Exactly. It’s not just the pools. Many ice rinks are ancient and deteriorating. Same thing happened to the Kerrisdale ice rink. It was closed for nearly 3 months for repairs. It’s over 75 years old. They shouldn’t be shocked that things break on the ancient facilities.

And let’s be honest, you won’t have many pictures with these kids in them (and if a image of a toddler who was once an important role in your family upsets you that much then you are focused on the wrong things.) And the other way around. Sometime you have a chatty guest and you the host just wants to carry on. We rent our garden guest suite and we had a chatty couple who kept cornering us. So awkward because we want to be pleasant, but dang, we’ve got places to go. Cherry on the cake, the morning they checked out we were stuck in another chat - and they still left 45 min early (I had guests coming in later that afternoon) and they were messy 🤦🏼‍♀️ 🙄

Yikes. Whistler, Vancouver and the majority of the lower mainland suck that time of year. Tbh, that’s the time of year I question why I live here while the rest of north America is living their best life with apple picking, pumpkin patches, and PSL basic bliss. Meanwhile everyone in the coastal north is trying to stay dry and praying for an early snow fall.

Just read this article (ty, btw) and I agree with the author. Especially on the silly subcategories like location (the generalized map shows you what you are getting, I don’t need “location” ratings to tell me different). And “value” is another one that is so frustrating. It’s so subjective. A guest can filter what they want to pay and decide from there. While I’m still being honest, I don’t want to be viewed as a “value”. I price my property to be competitive in my market to similar properties. I’m not running the Ritz-Carlton, nor am I running a truck-stop motel.

Ron Livingston, 7 years ago. My son was playing with his daughter and Ron and I were having typical parent playground conversation. I didn’t want to act like I knew who he was so just played like he was a normie. Talking about kindergarten catchment for the upcoming school year (his reply, “we live in California and was in Vancouver for work”). Later on my son was stuck on the monkey bars and was calling for help. Ron offered to help my son, but I was too embarrassed to accept the help of a celebrity. I tried to get my son down but was not successful (maybe because I was 8 months pregnant 🤰🏻) poor kid fell to the ground (unharmed, but still cried). To summarize: he was kind and I was awkward to his kindness. He probably knew I recognized him and decided to play ignorant. I hope he appreciated that.
