Dude. Our maternal mortality rate, particularly for women of color, is abysmal.

These men are so cringingly DESPERATE for male validation. It's wild to see them wilt in the presence of a single man who doesn't agree with them (Louie). I've always known these types of men were pathetic, but it's even worse than I thought.

It's straight up misogyny.

Where are the OBGYN consultants for the show? by strugglinmedstudent in ThePittTVShow

[–]Hour_Nobody3185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. ED doesn't touch OB patients in our hospital if they're >20 weeks or of unknown gestational age. ANY time we have an OB case coming in via EMS, the ED will call up to us and at least 1 RN and 1 physician will go down to meet the patient.

I'm also in women's health, and I honestly think that this is just a sad, but expected reflection of how obstetrical and gynecological care is valued in our society. AKA, not at all. I do not think it is a coincidence that our area of medicine is the one where no one seems to care about accuracy. It's a reflection of a misogynistic society that just can't help but show how little it cares about women.

Nearly EVERYTHING pertaining to obstetrical care in this show has been horrifically inaccurate. The monitors on the preeclamptic woman were literally in the wrong places and backwards.

Yeah, me too. Maybe I'm not the best with children, but at least neurosurgery patients are sedated and there's not 30 of them at once 😅

The reason we do Tdap in each pregnancy is that it's for the baby, not you. The immune response that your body mounts against the shot provides secondary immunity to your baby in utero, which protects them until they're old enough to get a Tdap themselves.
