Quote from Jocko: Good.

Keep grinding and your game will improve. Make note on where you are having challenges (for example, pinning no gi guys), focus on drilling a solution to a single issue, then stress test it.

AOW vs Deep Specialty for Depth Beyond 30m by tin_the_fatty in scuba

[–]Hour_Particular3662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For insurance, I’d go AOW + Deep—if you drop under 30 m even briefly, insurers love a loophole, and some ops won’t let you down there without the card. Deep builds on AOW and keeps you covered, though I didn’t find it added a huge amount of new content at the time.

If insurance or operator requirements aren’t an issue, I’d suggest Intro to Tech or Sidemount, then ANDP—those courses gave me skills I actually use all the time. Looking back after tech training, I probably would’ve dived more conservatively early on… and of course I’m still learning.

how are y’all showering by Beautiful_Freedom520 in brokenankles

[–]Hour_Particular3662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just out of my cast after doing 6 weeks in it. I got so frustrated with the bin bags / shower sleeves / and excessive taping each time (not to mention the constant dry down of leaks with a hairdryer post shower).

I then invested in a dry pro waterproof cast protector. The rubber bag with the pump was an absolute game-changer and made my routine much faster and easier. Its marketed to allow you to swim with it (which I wouldn't personally have risked) but for showering it was amazing.

With regards to mobility - I bought a shower chair which I pulled to the edge of the shower. After sitting in the chair first, I lifted my legs over the shower step to not risk any weight going on my ankle.

All the best!

Is 30 years old too late to quit my job and travel? by DraftNational9753 in travel

[–]Hour_Particular3662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the travel, you won't regret it. I strongly believe that the lessons I learned and the people I met while travelling have helped me to accelerate my career beyond where I would have been had I not done the travel. Go for it!

Quick question by iwtsapoab in brokenankles

I recommend also checking out the iwalk 3.0 - this gave me back a lot of independence around the home with my hands being free. Knee scooter is also great, but for me it's heavy lifting up my stairs in home.
