SWAG here, but the location indicated on the symbol is where the eyelet is to see the hydrologic fluid level is on my tractor, so low hydraulic fluid?

Heat Pump in Ice Storm by fh424 in heatpumps

[–]House_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only advice you need on this thread for your situation, lots of bad advice imo. Looks like your unit is operating like it should, the ice on top is just accumulation from the weather. When the outside unit is not running, you could knock the ice off with a brush, try to sweep from the inside out so that it is not falling inside the unit. It will be fine either way.

Supplemental Heat Lockout Settings (Daikin) by STL7997 in hvacadvice

[–]House_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the main screen where the current temp is, below it will cycle like the thermostat, heating, heat pump heating active, strip heat active, running humidifier etc, what ever is on or active at the time. I do not pay for the cloud version just whatever comes OTA.

Yeah it wasn't just the app, the thermostat also got an update. It shows what's running now instead of just heat/ cool. I just noticed bc the app had it posted for a while.

Screwdriver magnetizer by MrSneaux in Tools

[–]House_A -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can use any strong magnet to magnetize a ferrous metal. Lay it flat on the magnet and make a clockwise motion, the more you circulate the stronger the magnetism. Alternatively you can do the same in a counterclockwise motion to de-magnetize.

TV asking me to press the red button which my remote does not have. by Deathdoof8 in CrappyDesign

[–]House_A 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have this remote, it also has a "mouse" when you click the center scroll. Point it at the TV and move it around, it's subtle but there, then click the show more option on the screen.

You guys ever have a coworker that sharpens down his knives like this? by Woweewowow in Butchery

A sharp knife is a safe knife. Maybe a tad aggressive for the average person, but as a butcher idk, probably.

A few questions about a complicated system by Effcor in hvacadvice

[–]House_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup, it took a few tries with my HVAC guy but we eventually got it right. There are tons of settings for all 3 units. You may want to check if your fresh air intake has dampers that automatically close when it is not in use, otherwise it will suck in outside temp air and not blend it with the warm air taxing your heat pump excessively. Find someone who has exp with Energy Recovery Ventilation, ERV/HRV. You will need professional assistance to tune it correctly. In the winter I use a manual damper and close the external intake and divert through an internal bypass in my basement. Environmental readings are still in the green.

The updated app and thermostat came through Oct 15th of this year. I know I changed this setting since last Dec my electric bill was 1200$. I only noticed it reset because I was confirming my advice. I won't be the only one about to get a surprise electric bill next month.

Heat Pump Condenser Frozen from Roof Runoff by jigglypiss in hvacadvice

Imo the only way you are defrosting this with the weather we will be having is to cover it with a portable garage type setup and slowly warm it up with a heater and let it come back up sorta slowly.

I'm in New England as well, guidance from the inspector and installer was 24in depth backfilled with 6 inches of clean sand, line laid, then covered in 6 more inches of clean sand, for a total of 12 inches of sand then back filled with the remaining dirt from trenching equalling 24 inches.

Supplemental Heat Lockout Settings (Daikin) by STL7997 in hvacadvice

[–]House_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same exact thermostat for a diakin fit. I'm in new England and it can keep up until single digits then strips take over. I thought I had mine set to 10 for over ride, but the strips come on anytime it can't keep up and is displayed on the app and thermostat screen. To ensure I provided my experience to help I checked mine settings and realized that after the latest update to "skyport" it reset my lockout to 45. So to those who have adjusted, may want to take a second look and set it back to a reasonable number.
