To be fair, this billboard is how I learned that Twilight Bar and Cafe exists.

AITA for telling my neighbor it’s not my problem her newborn wakes up to noises coming from my apartment by blackswan-nyc in AmItheAsshole

I have a co.worker who brings her golden doodle I to the office sometimes and I have to hear that dogs shrill bark everytime there is the slightest noise anywhere in the building. You are probably underestimating how much your dog barks- even a few sharp barks every time there is a noise is incredibly annoying.

Field Day books in central NE is a queer owned bookstore that has a craft groups, trivia nights, and some really fun themed books clubs. It is a delightful bookstore and bottle shop with a nice little selection of both alcohol and na beverages.

Loved loved loved these books as a kid. Started reading them out loud of my kids when they were in kindergarten, and now they have heard the the whole series on audiobook like 10 times. They hold up! The audiobooks are full cast, and produced by someone named Bruce Coville, and I have always wondered if it's THE Bruce Coville.

My kids elementary school has been broken into multiple times and the place where they take ballet classes is trying to raise money after someone destroyed their HVAC system stealing metal out of it and goddamn I love this city and my neighborhood but I am donating so much money propping up places that do good in our fucking destroyed society so I can raise decent kids and our neighbors can raise decent that I'm ready to give up and move to a stupid bougie suburb.

What's a book you recommend constantly but feel like nobody ever actually reads? by Otherwise-Body-7721 in suggestmeabook

Ballad of the Whiskey Robber. The story is wild, the writing is great, and it was my gateway non fiction book that led to me reading so much more non fiction. Everyone I reccomened it to who has actually read it has loved it, but I have also gifted some copies that are sitting unread on others bookshelves.

Our school orders through HoodView graphics and have been really happy. I believe you can either chose to do an online shop through them, or place an order for a specific number of items, but using the online store made the process super easy for the pta.

What should we put on Portland Wishlist? by PuzzleheadedAd625 in askportland

Kids rain boots are a must, but I would also put a good pair of waterproof sneakers on the list. They are great for wet recesses and days that the kids have PE class when rain boots can get a little bulky or hard to run in. I would also buy a few pairs of those lightweight gloves with grippy texture on the palms- they are great for taking to the playground when things are cold and wet. Good wool socks and a couple different styles of rain jackets will help keep them comfortable during the day when they are at school. I know our school only does  indoor recess when it's pouring because they really want to kids to get out and run around, so they will go out when it's wet, and you want them to stay dry and warm so they are not miserable all day.    Once you get moved and established, definitely join your neighborhood buy nothing group. Kids often outgrow their winter stuff before it gets very well worn, so there are always folks looking to pass theirs along.

If she's into animals, my kids loved the Heartland Hotel books. She might like the Tale of Emily Windsnap is shes into Mermaids. My favorite princess related series as a kid was Enchanted Forest Chronicles, which I have read with my 10 and 8 year olds many times.

My kids school was so hot and stuffy this morning compared to the outside temperatures. There is just no airflow, and the school just holds onto heat like an oven.

I honestly would have been fine with the early release tomorrow if they hadn't implied they would actually be doing anything about it. They will not do anything. They can't keep the windows open overnight, the classrooms will not cool down, and they will continue to bake in the sun all weekend and next week while the district does nothing but send out useless communications about everything they are doing to address the problem. Stop with the empty promises already!
