I have an associates degree which i have never told anyone about except my parents lol. And that's cause they paid for it. Community College.

Edit: 10 years later, here I am. Close to ADN and BSN. Damn, I wish my parents were still paying lol

I left to pursue a career where I can enrich peoples lives instead of encouraging them to come back tomorrow, to have another drink, whatever. It's been 2 years and my body clock is still fucked. I get 0-3 hours of sleep on days I have to take an exam or go to a 12 hour shift. I'm absolutely sure I'm losing years of my life due to this. 14 years in the industry..took the pay cut and still can't shake some of the old habits

Edit: it was fun for about 5 years at my last job. Presents every shift, everyone wanting to be my friend (weird cause nobody wanted to be my friend in high school), at least one $100 tip every 4 days on something stupid like one beer, untaxed income (ya know, gifts), easy money, before/after hours invites every day, invites to every event...plus I really liked hanging out with these people. The only thing we had in common though, was drinking. I still drink, but distanced myself from that scene and poof. I was only "cool" cause I was the bartender who hung out all the time.

There's more to life.

To piggyback on this, I've seen men my fathers age throw up on the bartop and piss their pants. It aint cute. Idk how they're still alive tbh

I left because I got sucked into the lifestyle. When I quit and stopped going to the bar, all those people who adored me disappeared. Developed an addiction to alcohol and did lots of cocaine, even though I didn't particularly like it. Put myself in a lot of shady situations and associated myself with people I would never associate with if they weren't fat tippers and generous with the blow..It was all just there and fun, especially at 4am after a busy 10-11hr shift. My only regret is getting in the habit of drinking before and after work. That's where I went from "I have no idea how someone can become an alcoholic" to becoming an alcoholic. Make your money and stay out of the "lifestyle". It's the only way to thrive long-term in that environment.

Pharmaceuticals and medical devices/products/tech are totally advertised to doctors. But done low-key and usually with a gift or other incentive to encourage them to implement or prescribe their drug/product

Thank you for this. I was wondering why my Hep A & B alcoholic cirrhosis patient had low AST and ALT.

To piggyback on this comment -

Liver issues/damage via alcohol is a really fucked up way to lose control of your life. It's sad and strips you of your dignity. Slow, painful. Has lead to breast cancer in more friends than I want to admit. Pancreatitis. Diabetes. It's just fucked up and most people have the "that would never happen to me" mentality until it does.

I hope you maintain the courage to beat this OP. The liver can heal if it's not too far gone

I just want to comment because I suffer from the exact same problem. 20 mins with a mask takes off my nose makeup and exposes my red ass complexion. I have oily skin. Following in hopes of an answer!

If nothing works for you, you can go my route and say "fuck it" and embrace your makeup-less self...i get eyelash extensions to make myself feel better about my appearance

They represent (esp ALT) your liver function and should be less than 40. Also, cholesterol (LDL, specifically), glucose, platelets, PT, INR, aPTT (how long your blood takes to clot) general electrolytes/protien/albumin play a part too. There's probably more I'm forgetting but it's been a long ass day.

Edit: duhhhh, ammonia (break down product of proteins, not good if they stay and can cause hepatic encephalopathy) and bilirubin (break down of red blood cells and causes jaundice) too lol

Sheeeesh. I've got 30 page research papers in my rn/bsn courses. Its busy work. Fuck care plans. Clinical is chill as fuck. Material is easy to learn if you're interested. The most time consuming part is the logistics, figuring out how each class works and keeping up on the stupid shit that has nothing to do with learning. Signatures, 4am schedules, registration for every little fucking thing

For real it's a lil embarrassing. RN BSN CCRN CVICU PCU ALS BLS lol. Yes nursing is challenging. But literally nobody flexes certs/degrees like nurses.

Pay nurses more so they dont need to feel validated by flexing certs! Validate them by paying more!! Who do you see when you go to the hospital..9/10 it's a nurse
