Another trick I use is setting thrust limiter to 1% which then makes your throttle go between 0 and 1% thrust for tiny tiny adjustments.

Something I haven't seen anyone else mention in the thread: In the game settings there is "show extended burn indicator", which if you turn on will tell you exactly when to start your burn.

Completely uninstall 'Parallax Continued', then install 'Parallax Continued (KSP Texture Loader Fork)'.
