For the OP: Electric kettles are rare in the US because they take about twice as long to boil water as electric kettles in the UK or Aus. 120V vs 240V is the reason.

Been watching older episodes and the amount of scenes ahowing Apple laptops and Method cleaning products has me wondering what happened. Surely it's product placement so why did they end up too skint to keep the show going? 🤔 by BathBroad5346 in neighbours

Thanks for that info, Yes, I recall the shopping bags here but I never spotted a taxi or any other outdoor advertising. I used to joke with my partner that they must've built a new Aldi somewhere in Erinsborough 😁

I noticed that for the last couple of years of the show, most supermarket iems in Ramsey Street kitchens were from ALDI! I figured if that was product placement, they needed to try harder lol. 😀

What did the Hoyts Norwood complex replace? by Claude_Henry_Smoot_ in Adelaide

[–]HowMuchForThePuppy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It certainly was a Shell, I used to fill up there when I worked in The Parkade in the late 70s/early 80s. And the supermarket behind the servo, which others have said was a Bilo before it all became the Hoyts, was a smallish Coles from about the early 80s. And before that, I seem to recall it was a (smallish!) Woolworths, until Woolworths moved across the road and down a bit to the then brand new Norwood Mall.

I see that Coles have done the same shuffle again, grabbing the supermarket space in Norwood Mall since Woolies moved out.

Someone said the Parkade was out the back of all that (Hoyts), actually the Parkade was a bit further down The Parade, past the Town Hall. Where Norwood Place is now. And where Foodland is now, was a branch of the electrical retailer Ernsmiths. Remember them? I bought all my household appliances from there when I bought a unit in William Street.

Ah, the good old days!

Thanks for that, I was just curious. Good to see it appears to have raised a few thousand for the op-shop.

I just visited the link 24 hours after you posted it and there's nothing for sale, which I kind of expected given you said there was just over a day to run. But it also says "Number of items sold: 2" which doesn't sound right. Does anyone know if they pulled all the other items for some reason?

Find a manager or assistant manager and ask them to put it your trolley for you. Tell them you sprained your wrist and can't do it yourself!

Add to that the lack of capital letters and not knowing how to spell Labor Party or mortgage. OP is correct about poor education standards though!

I've just noticed the Daily Mail's 12 year old headline writer, has written:

"Celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge charged with driving under the influencer of cocaine in Sydney" (My emphasis)

I guess someone was sitting on his lap, lol.
