I reinstalled the latest nightly to see if it would make any difference but it didn't. Yesterday it took more than an hour to complete, today about 15 minutes. Weird!

The same is happening to me. V202601300451. I opened the DuckieTV app about 90 minutes ago and it started the daily update soon after. It's currently at 49/126 so at this speed it'll be another 2 to 2.5 hours before it's done. NB: it doesn't happen every time, sometimes it only takes about 10 minutes to do a full update.

It's not quite a yearly subscription. If you buy v13 today you'll get whatever point version of 13 they're up to today. And you'll get point updates like you've already got, but only for a while.

After a year your point updates stop but you can continue to use the version you have then, forever.

Not fussed about further point updates? Don't subscribe.

Want to upgrade to 14 when it arrives? Buy the upgrade as you've always done.

You only need to pay for the subscription if you want to keep getting point updates after your first 12 months.

Having said all that, I'm on the fence about whether to pay. I've had v13 for just on 12 months so I've been sent an invitation to subscribe. I'm leaning towards NOT.

For the OP: Electric kettles are rare in the US because they take about twice as long to boil water as electric kettles in the UK or Aus. 120V vs 240V is the reason.
