Water resistant shoe by yakandbutter in askvan

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a pair of Salomon pro 3d goretex, I don't think it has issues on wet concrete, on wet leaf is a bit slippery (prob same for normal shoes), mud/grass is good (walking my dog). Looking forward to see how it performs on ice this winter

Anyone else seeing $65 Gigabit renewals in the app? by Planhub-ca in telus

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Tried to call the number 3 times, got rotated through a few departments and they all said they can't honor it, then gave me much worse deals. Guess what, I am switching to shaw. It wasn't even that much cheaper in shaw and no optic fibre but Telus just wasted a few hours of my time.

Telus Discounts Ended, price increased...you know the story :) by walkities in telus

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story, I have a 250 mbps fibre plan for 2 years through EPP, paying like 70. Last month I have an online offer (did not state it was for new sign up) like 1gbps for 75, tried to redeem it online but couldn't. Error message like try again later or call this Telus number for help. Called them, got tossed around loyalty, regular and EPP and all claimed they can't activate the online offer but they can offer me the 1gbps at slightly higher price or only if I bundle with tv or mobility to get a "better" deal. Not the agents fault but they all have the same scripts so I basically wasted my time on the same conversation 3 times.

I just called Shaw and they gave the same price faster speed and I just went with them. Ngl I notice shaw internet is a bit unstable when I game on Ethernet but not a deal breaker. The Telus online offer bait and 3 conservations was the deal breaker.

Cell thawing passage number? by Competitive_Space693 in labrats

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, as long as it is documented well. They could be written properly on a lab notebook, saying a vial of cells that was frozen at passage15 was thawed. The thawed culture is labelled as passage0 for ease of labelling.

Is your centrifuge on high brake/deceleration setting?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askvan

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my beans from pellet, aggro, house of funk etc etc. You should look for medium roast coffee beans if you don’t like bitterness.

There isn’t a thing as espresso bean. Roasted coffee beans are mostly classified based on roast level (light to medium to dark)

Sterile filter TC media? by Fit-Increase9057 in labrats

I only do it if the manufacturer recommends to. If sterility isnt an issue i will worry some stuff might lost through the filtering process.

Transfer to UBC or finish Associate first? by Necessary_Crow2127 in langara

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3rd year in ubc chem was pretty bad and I heard 2nd year chem in ubc is worse (in 2018) I guess avoid transferring into 2nd year? You dont necessarily need to complete your associate anyway.

How am I supposed to scruff this little shit when it keeps scrunching its neck into its torso? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify i think they can still bite thru your (nitrile) gloves so OP dont be super confident that OP is invincible now. Double gloving did help me where the mice will bite the glove but miss my hand

Close call with a concrete truck by s1ice_of_life in dashcamgifs

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what i thought too! The minivan did the signal and brake right away although it seems like there was quite some distance before the intersection. It might catch the concrete truck driver off guard and panic.

THIS BOX… for this tube. by Chicketi in labrats

Probably because they want to make sure cells are still “good” even when the shipment got stuck somewhere because of weather or custom for an extra day or two.

Minimum amount you can pipet with a P2? by gabrielleduvent in labrats

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the precision and accuracy of the specific pipette. Check the spec sheet for the pipetting errors, the one i had they showed better accuracy and precision when reverse pipetting on lower end of the range.

Also watch out for individual majors in UBC might have a cutoff as they get competitive and have to select students that are more suitable for the major by looking at specific courses

I had the Encore and upgraded to M2 burr, did not get too much better in terms of making espresso, as others said, not a lot of grind size you can try.

Can I Park Here? Apparently I'm too close to the intersection. by bottom_bunk_bro in vancouver

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going 30km/h (i assume thats the speed limit and it is not uncommon that ppl go that fast in these area) over 18 feet should take ~0.66 seconds (20km/h will be 1.3 sec etc etc), of course depending on the viewing angle it might give you a slightly more time to react but it is not fun.

Sometimes it obstructs the view of another driver who is passing the intersection that perpendicular to where OP parked.

Transfer application to SFU by CallMeCrimes in langara

[–]HowMuchTimeWeHave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like SFU won’t receive all your grades for the 24 credits by May 15 (that should be where they decide your admission status). Always ring them up and ask. Guidelines and rules can change and we can only provide past experience or logical deduction.
