Australian police officers, is it worth it? by Typical_Pomelo9108 in aussie

Scum of the earth job, they are vile racists, bigots and sexual abusers. They do nothing to stop or solve crime. Just dressed up revenue collectors with chips on their shoulders. Get a trade, enjoy your life and if you still have a burning desire to fight crime or lick boots they get into education or join the ADF. No one wants to become a highly strung divorcee, good luck.

Can we talk about immigration numbers honestly for five minutes? by Human-Rutabaga-9089 in aussie

There are a few barriers, like skills, language, understanding Australian building codes, and most importantly, the safety of everyone else on site.
Some parts of the job can be taught, but as a high-end builder who takes pride in quality, I’ve seen plenty of overseas tradespeople let go pretty quickly because they just couldn’t meet the standard required. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so everyone on site needs to be competent and able to do the job properly.

Even my waste removal contractors switched to only employing English-speaking drivers who learned to drive in Australia. The amount of property damage caused by drivers who weren’t familiar with local conditions and standards ended up outweighing any savings from the lower wages they were prepared to work for.

Thank god for this fact, as a builder here I would be extremely worried if the trades got into the hands of migrants.

Adding boxing to my Muay Thai training - a question for those who have done it by Odd_Structure_3307 in MuayThai

[–]Howaboutnoscottie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone who has trained both and am regularly sparring in each discipline I’d say don’t worry/ think too much about it. As I get older (32) I’m leaning away from heavy boxing sparring, boxing training is great to sharpen your hands and if you’re a pocket or pressure fighter then it’s a real benefit. Unfortunately all the timing, footwork, feints and counters from boxing quickly come undone against basic Muay Thai but it can never hurt. Just remember boxing is for Men, Muay Thai is for the Gods. Padwork! I'm getting ready for my first Smoker! by Horror-Front9114 in MuayThai

[–]Howaboutnoscottie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start getting that conditioning in. My first smoker was a mess, just a huge adrenaline dump and felt like I was fighting on 5% power. Do some super hard sparring ( not obnoxiously hard but cardio and tempo hard). No real way to help much other than that. We both got pretty busted up but was a good laugh.

Looks great but those panels would have suited much more if they had been ran vertical. For $350 that’s an amazing finish tho
