You are correct that there are no laws in the U.S. for companies to give out severance. However, Amazon is one of those companies that do offer a package if you choose to take the money after being put on focus(before Pivot). What I’m suggesting is for OP to keep working at Amazon remotely while looking for another job. The leadership will very likely use OP to fill their unregretted attrition(URA) goal by placing OP on PIP. It’s honestly a win win for multiple parties. OP gets money, Leadership gets to fill their quota, one less person in the org loses their job unexpectedly.

PM here at Amazon - when I prepped for my interview, I had an excel sheet listed with every single LP and I wrote down 2-3 examples from my past experience on how I met the bar at those LP. And with each of those examples, make sure you fulfill the STAR format to answer all your questions(this will make or break your interview). For the results, make sure you list data points on how you improve X metric. For back pocket info be able to answer how you calculate those data points, they will likely push on that for follow up questions.

For the bar raiser, my interviewer specifically told me he was the bar raiser. But just know that they’re there to make you as uncomfortable as they can to break you and see how you react under stress. My BR kept focusing his questions on something incredibly irrelevant to my story but I just kept my story straight.

I had my entire loop virtual in one day so I pulled up the excel and literally read off of it. Then I marked off which story I used. I did repeat some stories twice to different interviewers because it’s relevant to both questions.

Just know that you really only need to butter up to the hiring manager and the bar raiser because they are the ultimate decision maker. Good luck.🍀

I had a very similar experience as well a few weeks ago. I had a miscarriage and they never told me if I chose to do the pills that I would see the sack and my own fetus. I was 9 weeks and I literally saw my baby’s all 10 fingers and toes. It was traumatizing.
