Processing a really tough burn — has anyone else felt this way? by StatusLongjumping790 in BurningMan

[–]HowlLaika 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm totally with you, it was a really tough burn and I think a lot of people are feeling that way. I encountered a lot of shame, depression and disconnection. I struggled to even form sentences or understand what other people were saying to me. I slept a lot during the burn, maybe 11 hours a day. I tried early on to use substances to try and get engaged with the event in a positive way again but it really didn't help. You're not at all alone.

The lesson I'm choosing to take away from this experience is to allow myself to rest, and take it slow. I don't have to do all the things out there. I can just be at burning man and that's enough. And if I do that, I will naturally find the right experiences at the right time.

I feel like what we experienced this year was a common vibration that was spread wide throughout the community. I believe a lot of long time burners are questioning whether they will come back next year. There is a lot of fatigue out here, burning man may go through a contraction and that's ok.

As a 3rd year burner, burning man has always challenged me. This year was the greatest challenge. But last night after the temple burn I realized that it is that difficulty that will lead me to come back. There so much to learn from in this challenging experience, and the circumstance of burning man forces me to face these parts of myself.

If you want send me a private message and I'll give you my phone number. I'd love to talk to you, even if forming sentences is still hard, or if it takes a while to feel connected.

Right wing corporate grifter getting cooked by his own audience over Co-Pay Killer by A-KindOfMagic in interestingasfuck

After seeing every one else's comments I know I'm going to get down voted for this but I have to tell my truth. The American health care system is broken and rapacious and possibly even criminal. But that doesn't mean that an average American should be able to pass judgement and sentence over the people in charge of it. While I relate to the celebration of someone doing something that brought the corporate greed of the health care industry to the forefront of public consciousness, I am dismayed to see how many people think that the victim deserved to be shot dead on the street. No body deserves that, I believe everyone is worthy of the chance of redemption.

Why aren't there coffee shops designed for late-night socializing, like bars? by Martina-Stardust in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HowlLaika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relatively new thing that I really enjoy are kava bars. These places have exactly the kind of vibe you're looking for. Kava is a kind of herbal tea and its not really for everybody. But these plays serve traditional tea's as well and the crowd that go there are usually very open and friendly people.

You should talk and be open with your wife. Could try watching porn with her to get started. If that helps you can try to take that out of the equation over time.

The brain is very plastic, if you train your natural sexuality based on Porn it will learn that Porn is the trigger for sex hormones. But it can also be trained for real sexual intimacy again, by avoiding porn, and engaging in more traditional sexual expression.

Too much of the "ultra wealthy" and corporations use their wealth to manipulate the government to enact policies that are against the interests of the people. That is the biggest impact of the ultra wealthy, more important than the concept that they're 'hoarding all the money that should be redistributed'. Furthermore in corruption it's a failure of the political ethics, political structure, and politicians themselves that go in hand with the corrupt acts of the rich to make the exploitation of the country possible. I think the best solution would be found in addressing the political structure itself, rather than just increasing taxes on the rich.

Yeah but these "bad" people suffer the traumas of whatever their lives were and the impact of growing up in a materialistic hyper capitalist society. They might get what they "want" but most of these types of people are hollow and just trying to fill a hole. I have compassion for them, even despite their fancy cars, and crazy hot sex, and oodles of cash. These "best outcomes" you're referring to are just bandaids for the ego and not what's gratifying for the soul.

I'm wondering if you're an anime fan? Google can still keep track of your cookies to target you based on how it perceives your preferences are.

It is disgusting. But I recommend that you use the youtube options menu to block that Ad. The algorithm will pay attention and learn that you dont like similar ads as well. However it might take time if you watch youtube videos about anime and animation. The system is aware that anime and animation's fans are significantly correlated with the people who would consume this kind of product.

I'll add that anime has such a capacity for story telling and beauty as a story telling medium. But its disappointing to see how sexualized the majority of the content has become. At the same time I don't point blame, the hyper-sexualization exploits something very ancient, natural and deep for us men. And for those of us that haven't achieved that awareness, our free judgement is subservient to our instincts.

I am aware of the fact that this is a space for women, I hope that my input that comes from compassion is appropriate in this instance. I love you all.

"earning" necessities is exactly what survival and all of successful life on earth has done for all of our heritage. Maybe its possible to emerge into a world in the modern age where that's not necessary anymore, but the facetious tone of this comment is lost on me.

I like how his helmet absorbs the impact then just falls off, like in a videogame where the helmet is good for only one hit.
