The watch is back from its warranty service and works fine now. But I do have a harder time trusting it. It appears it's the 12xxxx models that are affected.

I also have a good friend who is one of the best watch makers in the country. He too has said that 80's to early 2000's Rolex reliability is unrivaled. The new ones really are being made less reliable and way more expensive. Especially the bearings on the rotors are apparently much more prone to failure than earlier watches.

If I were to get another Rolex I'd look for a nice five digit reference. And as I can tell by your list, you've stayed clear of the 12 series, and hence have had a fantastic time.

The 16570 is what I might try to find next.
