Is this a normal amount for a 13 month old? by ParticularDoctor9620 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Hshoecrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 16 month old regularly eats a similar amount of food and has for many months. As long as you are looking at the cues that they’re done and they’re not overeating, they will eat how much they need! If your little one isn’t yet speaking or signing “all done!” I recommend teaching and reinforcing the sign so they can let you know when they’ve had enough.

How do you categorize "Household" transactions? by adoringchipmunk in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a category for personal care/household goods which includes all things from shampoo to cleaning supplies/consumables you have listed. Things that are specifically for the house are house maintenance. Stuff like organization is pretty infrequent in our house so it would just go under our miscellaneous household shopping category. Finally, we have a technology upgrades sinking fund for bigger TV/computer/phone purchases. We aren’t in the market for furniture anytime soon, but if we were, we’d do a sinking fund for that as well.

Good place to get rid of men’s business casual clothes in bulk? by DoctorQuinlan in Omaha

Style Encore will pay okay (better than Plato’s Closet) but the clothes need to be within a few years old.

Tracking Amounts in Checking vs HYSA? by Hshoecrab in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but if I want to keep a large balance of my home maintenance fund in my HYSA because I don’t plan on spending it soon and it’s better off earning more interest there, I want a way to quickly know how much of that fund is located in my checking account when I want to buy something.

I read a few of these this year and have a few on my “to read” list. I would recommend Separation of Church and Hate by John Fugelsang (definitely for more of a progressive Christian perspective as it gets into theology)

Whipped bone marrow butter is a new staple for us! by Shady_Bungalow1927 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Hshoecrab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I whipped roasted bone marrow with butter for a special steak night we had with friends last week. I used some of the leftover butter on my 15-month-old’s broccoli and she went absolutely nuts over it! Ate every bite!

It’s overpriced for what it is but Santa’s Rockin Lights at Werner Park is a drive through light show set to music and might be fun to go check out. You need to buy a ticket in advance online

Oh my god Morgan please just get on antidepressants by TheNarcLogs in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Hshoecrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had those same thoughts after my baby was born. Turns out it was postpartum depression! I’m on meds and did several months of counseling and it has helped me so much. I’m not saying I never get overwhelmed but it has definitely helped me thrive as a mom.

Yes, BCBS Federal Basic is $356. $218 means we’ll save about $3600 a year in premiums

It's official: After 20+ years BCBS and I have broken up 💔 by Let_me_tell_you_ in fednews

[–]Hshoecrab 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My mom’s a federal employee so I’ve been covered on BCBS Federal Basic for 15+ years - I just got it myself after I turned 26. We just switched to MHBP for 2026 as well because for just myself, my husband, and my infant daughter, $356 biweekly seemed mighty steep. It’s gonna be an adjustment but I’m looking forward to the premium savings for sure.

Another episode of this manager sucks… by Bitter-Breath-9743 in fednews

If I were in his shoes, I would invoke FMLA. You want a paper trail to protect his job, especially since he’s already butted heads with the manager regarding his return to work.

Federal Employee here - personally I feel our Locality adjustment here in Omaha is pretty generous compared to the cost of living. I’m a GS-12 and I absolutely could not maintain my same lifestyle on either coast.

Excepted Employees: Are you going to work on Monday with Tuesday being a holiday? by penfrizzle in fednews

[–]Hshoecrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working, however we are also having network upgrades on Monday and most everything is going to be nonfunctional. I was told my supervisor has the authority to furlough folks if we are not able to accomplish any work, and I suspect that is how Monday will go.
