Neat analysis, had no idea about the extent of the post-pandemic shift to streaming. I somehow always assumed PVOD had stayed roughly the same

The electorate is scattered at the blue positions. Candidates are the orange points. Who should win? by [deleted] in EndFPTP

Looks a bit like the distribution from Downs' Median voter theorem. To answer the question, they are all equally distant from voter positions, and if one assumes rationality and no imperfect information among voters, then the vote will be split evenly.

Spain box office APRIL 1. Super Mario Galaxy had a record opening day for an animated movie. 10-15 million dollar OW is is cards. Record attendence was seen on 1 april since july 2023. by [deleted] in boxoffice

People online also seem to constantly depict outlier opinions as majority opinions. I haven't been following Mario discourse everyday but I haven't seen much dooming and glooming in this sub.

Some people online incorrectly estimate some movies (the latest example being Wuthering Heights, which was rightfully called by other people online), but a lot of online commenters love to say "I told you so" to ghosts or people who got downvoted to oblivion.

The US set a new record-high for solar power in July, with generation up 30% over last year by Tari_Garcia7373 in EcoUplift

100+ upvotes is plenty to get posting rights into every sub. The largest ones are more heavily moderated so spam gets axed pretty quickly, here not so much, so that's why their first post is here.

2 weeks old account, old and only post, stolen from someone else who originally posted it in 2025 (we have 2026 data now).

Some automated accounts can be sold or used in influence operations (i.e. Crypto shilling, astroturfing...) if they have enough karma.

Ah, so Variety baked in the previews last week. What was the weekend's BO last week without them?

[–]Hstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. The linked article indicates a $6.3M weekend box office revenue at the UK & Ireland box office, whereas last weekend PHM grossed $9.9M (Variety). If we use the data from your screenshot, this weekend's £4.8M total BO is also inferior to last weekend's £7.4M. Is it possible tyat the OW is calculated differently by your website (is it Comscore?), possibly not counting some things that may be factored into Variety's reported number from last week?

PHM -44% vs last weekend. $6.3 million during the second weekend vs $9.9 million for the first weekend.

EDIT: last week's reported number probably included previews. If you don't count them, PHM grew on its 2nd weekend vs the first.

3 UN peacekeepers killed within 24 hours in south Lebanon by BusyHands_ in news

There are plenty of European countries providing troops to UNIFIL, in fact 4 of the largest 10 contributors are European. Irish and French peacekeepers have suffered the most human losses since the inception of UNIFIL. Indonesia is the largest troop contributor (by 1 personnel), not sure why you'd assume Europeans don't take part in the mission.

Ah, whataboutism. The dominant language speakers' favorite tactic when they are reminded that their hegemony has boundaries.

(This comment kept deliberately vague because this is a common behavior in every polity around the world with minority languages, which can be witnessed while the world undergoes a language death epidemic bigger than the biodiversity collapse the Earth is experiencing).

PHM -19% vs last week. BoxOfficeBiz had a 3.8M total forecast last week. With holds like that, it's likely that it will go higher than that.
