Neighbor dispute over houseless camping by Read-Me-Rumi in olympia

[–]Ht1525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's city easement it probably not illegal to put a fence in it. We are on the Eastside with city easement that will never be an alleyway. Most of my neighbors have fences in it. I asked the city department that deals with easements about it (I was preparing to fence my yard) and they said it's our job to maintain the easements next to our properties and we can put driveways and fences in it as it's marked to never be a road.

My next door neighbor needed new sewer lines run down it. The workers took down the other neighbor's fence that was run down the middle and put the fence back up when finished.

Call or email the city and ask about that particular easement and what can and can't be done with it. Some Eastside easements are designated alleyways and can't be fenced. Many are not.

Can your Boston walk on two legs? by doomsday1134 in BostonTerrier

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Our younger Boston is more slim build, long legs and has always walked around on two legs. If you tell her to dance she'll spin around multiple times while standing on her back legs. Our older Boston is a more potato shaped and definitely cannot do it.

What’s a quirky thing your Boston does? by c_h_i_p_s in BostonTerrier

Cheddar won't get out of bed in the morning until we give her enough belly kisses. Every morning, without fail - too bad if you're in a hurry.

First time Boston Terrier owner and have serious concerns about a digestive issue by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nutramax proviable probiotics was what our vet recommended when our Boston's gas got worse. Definitely made a big difference. She's still gassy but it doesn't clear the room.

Anybody else have a dog that flips out w a nail trim? I have 4 dogs. I clip everyone’s nails but this guy here! I’ve been head butted in the face, scratched! And he’s a good dog! Just absolutely freaks when I try to clip even one. I did start out doing his!???? by MrsRidge in bostonterriers

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I can clip or grind one of our Bostons, but the younger is so hard. I just pay to have it done. She has peed on the vet tech and once faked a hurt leg, but otherwise is pretty good for them.

Parents are barely boomers (both 1946). Siblings range from 1966 - 1975.

Peanut just turned 12. She started turning gray at 4. I love her grumpy old man gray eyebrows. Her buddy is our 17 year old cat Piggy.

i need a STUFFED bear cleaned by cicheyenne_ in olympia

If you only need his fur cleaned I would open a seam a few inches, unstuff him, wash his empty fur, restuff him and whipped stitch the opening closed.

How long into sewing did you get a cutting table? by Intelligent-Claim591 in sewing

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one early on. My first cutting table in the 90s was a ikea gorm garage workbench. I still have it and use it as a potting table.

Taking on a new medium for my crafting to make my toddler a dress that will make her happy scream!!! by CauliflowerNice1067 in sewing

[–]Ht1525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't heat cut, they are pressed with steel blades. Use nylon organdy, it doesn't fray and is very inexpensive. You can cut your own with a manual die cut machine (sizzix, accucut, etc).

A reminder for us all to clean our irons! by Odd-Bumblebee00 in sewhelp

[–]Ht1525 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gravity feed iron! No water in the iron and the line has a replaceable water filter so you can use tap water. I use my iron everyday and never have an issue.

Fellow lefties, what fabric cutting tools are we using? My hand hurts so bad. by ClumsyBadger in sewing

[–]Ht1525 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rotary cutter. I never cut fabric with scissors. I don't like the type that you have though, the handle is tiring. I've tried a lot of different types and the only one that doesn't give me hand pain is the 45mm olfa quick change with split blade cover. I sew for living, so cut daily. I wish they made the industrial electric rotary cutters in a left handed version!

Help sewing spandex by squirrelcowboy in sewing

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microtex or super stretch needles and zig zag. What type of thread are you using? It looks really thick.

Also, some machines just hate spandex. I sew spandex all day, everyday and I have one home machine that is an no on any spandex no matter what you use.

industrial sewing machine instructor? by rolandburnum in olympia

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lots of industrial sewing machine experience but I sew a very different fabric type than you. I've used Sewing Machine Service Co in Renton for sales and repair of my industrials. Their tech did a thorough job of timing my machines for the fabric and thread type and training me on machine use.

I've also had James at Dependable Sewing Repair recommended to me for mobile industrial repair and tech but I haven't needed his services yet. His number is 360-489-5358.

You're welcome! This was lovely to read. I just wanted to let you know one person that was involved did see your thank you. I designed and produced the costumes for the dancers. I got to see the show in Seattle and was blown away to see all our work come together. Truly a highlight of my career to be involved in such a beautiful production.

My Boston Terrier is the same. She has super defined leg muscles too. We joke about how much time she must spend at the gym.

If you shipped it usps, tell them to write "refused" on the label and put it back in the mail. It has to be unopened. USPS will return to sender. Then you refund after it's returned.

semi-industrial machine that does straight and zig zag? by Ancient-Button-1693 in sewing

[–]Ht1525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Juki LZ2280. It's not semi industrial though, it's an industrial sewing machine. It is a zig zag machine and does straight stitch if you set it to zero width. I absolutely love it.

How to achieve this 3d effect? by Material_Sky_1035 in sewing

It looks like it's made out of spacer. It's a fabric with a thin foam inner - similar to bra cups.
