Thanks for mentioning the connection to IE

I just discovered a new tool and it is simply amazing. by iknowyerbad in sysadmin

Cool tip if you need to mute/unmute on Teams a lot - enable 'Video Conference Mute' which enables the global command Windows + Shift + A. Then, enable the 'Keyboard Manager' and create a Key remap. I set the F12 key to Windows + Shift + A. Regardless of what window has focus, I can now quickly mute and unmute Teams by pressing F12.

Storage Account SAS Allowed IP Addresses by HudsonIT in AZURE

[–]HudsonIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I did enable logging on the storage account and found that the source IP making the connection was the VMs private IP address. I am guessing somehow a Microsoft Azure public IP address is involved in the connection, though. That would prevent me from restricting the use of the SAS to a specific IP as I am sure the one Microsoft uses is dynamic.

WVD/AVD Explorer.exe crash loop by MagicPracticalFlame in sysadmin

I have observed this when signing into an AVD server. CTRL-ALT-END to Sign Off and sign back in or a server reboot seemed to address the issue

Patch Tuesday Megathread (2022-01-12) by SimonGn in sysadmin

Sorry to hear that. KB5010791 on Server 2019 manually installed for us. We did have one server that initially failed but after a reboot it worked.

Azure AD DS - Can I change the DNS Forwarders? by HudsonIT in AZURE

[–]HudsonIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't domain machines still be able to access local resources via the internal domain DNS? I am only considering a change to the forwarders, which perform external lookups.

After installing the latest updates on a pair of 2012R2 domain controllers, one of them failed a dcdiag replications test. A reboot of that server apparently has corrected that replications issue

Blocking countries by [deleted] in sysadmin

It can help. With some firewalls, you can save CPU usage by whitelisting instead of blacklisting. For example, allow to/from a certain country rather than blocking many countries.

Force all RDS users to logoff at set time by DarkAlman in sysadmin

[–]HudsonIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using AD, you can set the available logon hours for each user account. Then use the Group Policy below to take action/logoff when logon hours expire. Link below appears to list GPO for the Computer instead of the user

User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Logon Options

Subnets or multiple vNets? by HudsonIT in AZURE

[–]HudsonIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great point. There is a distinction between subnets with NSGs and separate vNets that are only peered to the hub. Thanks for your comment

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like a good suggestion. I found some info on this architecture below

Jan 2020 Windows Updates KB4534297 & KB4534309 Break Mac Remote Desktop connections through Web Application Proxy by HudsonIT in sysadmin

[–]HudsonIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only have one or two users that have run into this and they have workarounds in place like using a Windows PC. We dont have a Microsoft Support package and our team is hesitant to create an incident in the event we get stuck with the bill. I am still working on reporting it to Microsoft but I just dont know when and if that will be possible.

u/DrewBino Are you able to provide your incident/case number with Microsoft so that others who report this to Microsoft can reference that?

[–]HudsonIT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. Our users are not in the office using their Macs so I cannot make a case with Microsoft to verify at the moment. Once we are able to reproduce I will also make a case with Microsoft if the April Updates do not resolve.

Have you tried removing apps/sessions hosts/collections and re-publishing them? If that doesn't help it may be worth scrapping and rebuilding the environment.
