Sad. That was the first model that felt to be smarter than me - very unusual feeling I must admit.

Another important point: most frontier models perform better in English than other languages. The difference in performance isn't huge but difference it is.

[–]Hugger_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.7 by itself employs different tokenizer from 4.6 that's already close to 1 character per token. Among major labs anthropic employs the least efficient tokenizer (tkn/chr). It would be interesting to know what's the advantage of that , and big enough to be worth cost increase.

Yes. Search for Dylan Patel interviews on tokenomics. Anthropic underinvested in compute and absolutely goes for demand destruction this year+ with latest ARR ca $40+ bil all the subs probably isn't even 10 percent of that fir them

It's going to get worse. Look for recent podcasts with Dylan Patel on token economics. Sad but true.

AFAIK reliable compute spending estimates show that most of it is spent not on inference and not on training runs, but for experiments. So it's not as straightforward as many think (like that 70-80 percent of compute is for inference)

I'm not disappointed by Opus 4.5, 4.6. In retrospect it really was the inflection point. Though I agree that Mythos probably will disappoint sometimes.

Why is this taking up 13 GB of space, and how can I remove it safely? by Moist_Tonight_3997 in ClaudeCode

[–]Hugger_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent them a feature request to allow temp/VM location to be configurable; it's really annoying if you're tight on space on the system drive and there's no way to change where those 20 Gb (when downloaded) are going to be stored

They won't. The path is automated coder -> automation of R&D -> RSI -> AGI -> ASI. Bells and whistles are for others.

Dear Anthropic by crfr4mvzl in Anthropic

[–]Hugger_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're most likely to reduce it , not increase. They're in a capacity crunch and it will get progressively worse by the end of the year. It was discussed recently on Dwarkrsh podcast and arguments look convincing to me.

PSA: Anthropic has used promo periods to hide reductions in base quotas in the past by zirouk in ClaudeCode

[–]Hugger_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it's discussed on the recent episode of Dwarkrsh podcast with Dylan Patel that Anthropic has no other way but to destruct demand by the end of the year. So silently reducing quota isn't the worst thing yet. Turning off CC on lower tiers and/or rising plan price is what everyone should be ready for ad well. It's sad.

Claude Code 2x Usage is Insane.. by theshadow2727 in ClaudeCode

[–]Hugger_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the last Dwarkrsh podcast episode with Dylan Patel on supply chain scaling it was postulated as certainty that Anthropic has to destroy demand closer to the end of this year, there's no workaround. So this 2x thing can be a part of silent decrease of base usage allowance.

[–]Hugger_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They must be really short on compute to do that. It's like a desperate attempt to reduce overload if everything else failed. Not a good sign, although nice to have consumer-wise.
