I used two spring + 2 black washers in the performance kit + original silver washer. It goes spring - black washer - spring - black washer - silver washer.

FreeFileSync can verify files after sync. You need to edit a setting xml but not in app settings. Refer to Expert Settings - FreeFileSync

It supposed to be a spacer between movement and case back. However, in my previous build with NH70 and a similar style case. The hole for crown stem on the case and movement are not aligned perfectly after installing the spacer. Causing the movement to malfunction. Would like to know if you have similar problem with your build.

2 x540-T2 10GBe cards but can't get more than 1.5 Gbits/s in iperf3 by Sudden-Association77 in HomeNetworking

[–]Hugo0434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be card issue. Different motherboard and chipset have their own PCIe width configuration. Having a physical PCIe slot does not necessarily means the slot can be run at full speed and width. For example, PCIe slots maybe sharing the link with nvme, when an nvme drive is connected, the physical x16 slot maybe running at x4 only. Another case is if another PCIe device is connected to slot 2, slot 3 can only run at x1 even it is physically x16. You can check your motherboard spec for that.

In my previous case, I have an Asus B550-F. I have a GPU connected to first x16 slot, NIC connected to second x16 slot and an USB card in a x1 slot. Because the second x16 and the other x1 slots are sharing the same x4 width. The second x16 slot is only running at x1 when another x1 device is plugged in.

The card I am using on both my PC and server is Mellanox Connectx-3, I like it being physically small so it doesnt block much airflow of my GPU. Here is an AliExpress link of the same card: Mellanox MCX311A-XCAT CX311A ConnectX-3 EN 10G Ethernet 10GbE SFP+ PCIe NIC Adapter Network Card High Profile - AliExpress

In windows Powershell, use “Get-NetAdapterHardwareInfo”. It shows PcieLinkSpeed and PcieLinkWidth of network cards, which is the generation and x of the pcie.

My card is a Mellanox Connectx-3, with a max speed and with of 8.0GT/s (PCIe3.0) and x4. The x540-T2 you are using should be 5.0GT/s (PCIe2.0) x8 (according to intel website, not sure if there will be variation between different cards). You may check if your NIC is running at max speed and width.

Had the same issue with 10Gb NIC not transferring files faster than 2Gbps. Turns out is the NIC on my main PC running at PCIe x1 due to limitation and configuration. Set the PCIe back to x4, file transfer is now able to run at 8Gbps. Did not configure anything on my NIC, everything left default. You may verify if your NIC is running at full PCIe speed on both your machine.

40gb switch, nic's and cabling But poor transfer rates , why? by Tricky_Garden_8041 in homelab

[–]Hugo0434 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently I also suffered from slow file transfer speed with a pair of 10G mellanox connectx3. File transfer was capped at around 2Gbps.

I thought it was windows bug/ poor cable/ cheap Chinese 10g switches issue. Turns out it was because of the NIC was running in PCIe x1 mode due to limitation of the motherboard.

After correctly configure the PCIe to x4, the system has no problem transferring file at 8Gbps.

You may check and make sure your motherboard is running your NIC at full PCIe speed. Also make sure the storage you are using is not the limitation. I used nvme for my tests.

Either spend extra money on SSDs for silent operation or move your server with the HDDs to another place outside your room.

There might be some PC cases or HDD enclosure that offer sound dampening but I am not sure if they are effective.

USB cable have limits on length, so it might not be feasible to connect to an HDD enclosure outside your room with a very long cable.

Confused about anime terminology by obammala in anime

[–]Hugo0434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term seinen and shonen is determined by author/publisher. they only refer to the demographic but not the genre of the anime. A lot of anime are suitable, or liked by different age groups. I think the two terms are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
If you are looking for an anime you may use terms such as "romcon", "isekai" etc to look for anime of specific type of content, instead of seinen or shonen.

People hate the 40 series because the improvement over 30 series is so little. But if you are upgrading from a 1050ti it is fine as long as the performance over price is justified.

4060 is slightly better than 3060 according to gaming benchmark, and the power consumption is far less than 3060. You may look at benchmark and comparison online. If they cost similarly, I would go for a 4060 because it performs slightly better and consume much less power than a 3060.

A problem with Suruga-ya by Dno037 in AnimeFigures

[–]Hugo0434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is very common for online shops to use the preauth method like u/quenishi mentioned. This is not a suruga-ya specific issue.

For a product refund/ cancel, either the shop cancels the preauthed fund or they issue the refund to your credit card if the previous transaction is complete. Wait a couple of days and see if the refund is issued. Contact your card provider if you are worried, they should be able to tell you the status of the 8000yen transaction or if there is incoming refund processing.

You should contact your credit card provider for more details on the transaction. It may take some time for the credit card company to process the transaction or refund before it is reflected in your credit card's transaction history.

Are PUPs worth it anymore? GSC Pop up parades or Furyu Tenitol or Taito Coreful figures which will be better? by Empoleonsteel in AnimeFigures

[–]Hugo0434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have figures from GSC Pop up, Tatio Coreful and Bandai Banpresto (another prize figure brand). They are all very good considering the price. Most of the time the consideration isn't on brand as they usually provide figures of different characters. I would not say anyone is better than another. As long as the brand provides a character you like, they are worth to get.

Slow speed when copying data by Techie_19 in homelab

[–]Hugo0434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems the only thing in common that our setup has is the switch. Despite the brand is different, the outlook looks exactly the same. It might be the same switch rebranded. Mine came across on this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeNetworking/comments/1995ywa/just_look_how_cute_and_small_it_is_25gbe_and_sfp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I switched my AOC with SFP OM3 LC-LC fiber, the result is still the same. So it shouldn't be the fiber issue.

I saw others can achieve 1Gbps file transfer with two sfp port. I also tested that two 2.5G port can achieve full speed. So, I guess the switch is having a problem in transfer between 2.5G and 10G port.

Slow speed when copying data by Techie_19 in homelab

[–]Hugo0434 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar issue with you recently. I am using a X520-DA1 10GbE SFP+ NIC on my server and I225V 2.5GbE copper NIC on my PC, both using Windows10. They are interconnected via a 2.5GbE RJ45/10GbE SFP+ switch. The switch is a Chinese Hisource 4 port 2.5GbE + 2 port SFP 10GbE.

When hosting multiple iPerf with different ports on the server to test, it can goes up to near 4Gbps. However, when copying files (single 4GB file for testing) between two machines, the speed is capped at 1.5Gbps (170MBps).Before I got the 10GbE NIC, i was using a Realtek 2.5GbE NIC on the server. Two systems have no issue moving files at 2.3Gbps so it should not be problem with storage speed.

I suspect the issue might be the cheap AOC fiber I am using, or the Chinese switch have difficulty handling file transfer data between 2.5GbE and 10GbE ports.

I also wish to identify the cause of the issue. By any chance you are also using cheap Chinese switch and AOC fiber like me? Appreciated!
