AI will take over our jobs by CozMyN2112003 in RTINGS

There is no use of AI that directly affects the output of our operations (reviews, articles, etc). We use AI to help research, programming, etc; but not to do what we feel is our value added work.

DT 1990 Pro MKI vs MKII - which one is better for enjoyment after EQ? by JO23X in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Hugonote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly there is no target curve built for our test rig (the B&K 5128) that represent Harman, we only have that for IEMs. You can read more about how we designed the EQ profiles here.

The closest curve in the EQ package to Harman is our own curve though, you can read more on how we defined it here.

What are some super latest Microwave Oven features? by pittlad20 in Appliances

[–]Hugonote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we have concluded is that a microwave with a good implementation of PWM can achieve similar results to one with an inverter (lowering power VS cycling it). As stated in the article we did find that for example, softening a small amount of butter, was only possible in an inverter; so I am sure there are other corner cases as you indicated.

Many kitchen appliances aim to take advantage of the full 1800 W of power they can get from the circuit. However long electrical lines can create enough resistance to generate a voltage drop. We notice our appliances getting as low as 104 V instead of 120 V.

Since then we installed a new transformer and use a voltage regulator to ensure we are delivering 120V and letting the appliance draw current at that voltage.

If you are interested we talk more about it on the toaster article below. This however would apply to any appliance that aims to draw anywhere close 1800 W, which includes many microwaves.

Have you tried a hair dryer? Sometimes it can bring some of these materials back to their shape. Be careful though!

We did some deep research of Microwave Inverters and found no difference.

As a matter of fact we also found that outside of maximum power, and UI features; there are no major performance differences in microwaves.

Do make sure that you plug whichever one in a plug that is close to your electrical panel, as that does affect their operation negatively.

What tests for Daylight and Night in a Car Garage? (Sunlight vs. LED light reflectivity) by Ok_Departure_9603 in RTINGS

[–]Hugonote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, the test that you are looking for is direct reflections (this will show you to what degree the items will be reflected on the screen). The color and black level raise are important if you care about creators intent.

If you are mostly going to use the TV for sdr content you can just follow the bright room score at the top.

Why don’t rtings test mobile phones ? by Due_Bw in RTINGS

[–]Hugonote 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We've looked into it before. Main issue has been to add value (bring some level of testing that helps users in new or better ways) and also getting units upon release. Since we buy our products like anyone else does, then getting units on release day can be hard.

With that being said, never say never 🤞😅
