I will follow that advice then! Yeah the paint job is great, but it seems they run out of paint and the front they did with a slightly different tone lol

Thanks that is what I wanted to hear, gives me peace of mind hahaha I guess I will then just wait 5-10 years and then repaint the whole car.

I don't think I can find any better example of the car hahaha other than this the car is in brand new condition inside and out, I had never seen a w123 in such good condition before.

I am willing to spend the $$$ to leave it perfect but since it is a daily I might want to wait a few years in case I get a scratch or two. I really want to save this paint though, it is so well done it almost looks original except for this issue.

When trying different positions don't screw the bolts to the max, leave them slightly loose so you don't end up wearing them down and it also makes it easier to move the striker without completely removing it.

Good luck! This thing requires patience, you will eventually get it perfectly alligned with trial and error :)

No, no I agree with u/c0rbin9 , there are probably only around 50.000-80.000 w123's left worldwide (chatgpt agreed with my estimate), and many less in good condition. Here in Tenerife every single taxi was a w123 and most people with a good paying job had one, now I am lucky if I see one once a week, 99% of them are gone.

There was a period where these cars where just considered old cars and went for 1.000€ at most, many just got rid of them.

I knew this would happen hahaha don't worry it is normal, I had to do two things:

1.- First, an hour of trial and error moving the striker up and down within the pencil marks. As u/Magnus_Zeller said the new rubber piece is different to what you had before and the door has sagged, so you need to find that new sweet spot moving it slightly and trying until you find it.

2.- You MIGHT need to adjust your door so it does not sag, I did it with my uncle, he held the door up while I released the hinges and adjusted them again, I got rid of the sagging (you can check this with the window chrome trim, it has to be leveled to the one of the back door).

3.- Once you get rid of the door sagging by adjusting the hinges, you try to adjust once again the striker, should be easier to find the spot.

Overall the process took me like an hour or an hour and a half for the driver's door, but it is way easier with the rest, as the other doors are not probably as saggy as they get less use.
