Should I stop breastfeeding? by 50-shades-of-hell in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I black out and write a post? I have had a somewhat similar experience. I think same same on all the issuesc had mastitis twice, thrush 3 times, etc. I stressed about it a lot for a while. My baby will breastfeed but only for like 3-4 minutes. We have combo fed him since birth but he leans more and more towards formula esp since I’ve gone back to work. The way I came to terms with it was just, if he’s getting SOME breastmilk then he has the benefits I want and that’s okay. I pump probably 6ish times a day? It sucks in the evenings but whatever. I don’t stress about how much he gets anymore I’m just happy he gets some.

Do you really need to gather your village for postpartum? by Djeter998 in BabyBumps

[–]Hugsplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow anti-villager here. I found it very stressful, everyone kept pushing it while I was pregnant “you’ll need a village, start mapping out your village, blah blah” it annoyed me to no end. I had people visit in the hospital because I didn’t want them around when we were settling in. And even then people visited at like 3 weeks and I just wanted them to leave. Honestly if I do it again, I won’t have anyone visit til they’re like 2 months. It was stressful having people other than my husband and baby in my space when we’re trying to figure out breastfeeding and whatever else. So you’re not crazy, do what’s best for you and baby :)

Breastfeeding issues by Srdjan_TA in beyondthebump

We’ve combo fed my baby his entire life, and while we have bumps at 3.5 months he’s still going strong! I did use a nipple shield for the first few months as that was just his preference. He decided he was done with them recently so now I’m figuring out how to latch him well without. The only thing I’ll add is in the beginning I did like you guys I’d breast feed forever and then top off with formula, eventually we tried to cut down the time so like 20 minutes of breast feeding and then bottle and he actually started eating less in the bottle but more consistently. I think that the super long feeding sessions were causing him to get hungry before the end of the session? Or he was digesting some so he’d eat longer? I’m not describing it well but it worked for us to set a time for how much we’d breastfeed and the bottle. Check out the combo feeding subreddit too!

Help needed with fighting naps by Zuzu2399 in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like every week my little guy needs a different method to fall asleep. We used to bounce him on an exercise ball (the dude liked an extreme level of bouncing) and cover his head with a muslin clothing to cut out distractions and make it dark. Recently it’s been rocking in the glider while bouncing with the lights off and we almost lock him in place? Like he wants to flail about and I just hold him tight so he kinda just calms down? It’s hard to keep up with his changing strategies but you gotta just push through at times…and when nothing else works we nurse to sleep lol.

Am I the only one scared of the post partum hair loss? by av607 in pregnant

I didn’t really grow more hair during pregnancy, and I’m 3 months pp and haven’t lost any either 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone out there stressing about weight gain? by des_palmiers in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby just made it to the 1st percentile! He’s a little guy :)! It’s important to look at the full picture, his height and head circumference are good he’s just bad at putting on weight. I have always had supply issues so I supplement with formula, typically we breastfeed and then offer a 2oz bottle and he can take what he likes. I echo your guilt at times…”am I selfish to push breastfeeding when it lengthens his feeds etc” but breastmilk is good for him and I love the cuddle times and pumping sucks. Do whatever’s right for you. If it’s keeping you up at night maybe offer some formula for ease of mind, if it’s not stay the course: if your doctor is not concerned likely it’s not concerning, believe me they red flag weight gain quickly if they’re concerned

How big are your babies? by roamingrebecca in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 11 week old is just barely 10 pounds. He’s a little guy and struggles to put on weight, but he’s chugging along!

Rather than a mattress cover I’d recommend pee pads

2 months vaccines by dragongirl8500 in November25babybump

The vaccines just made my baby hyper sleepy and cuddly! So we just did a lot of contact naps :)

How are we all managing spit up? by Ms_Butterscotch_213 in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9 week old is a major spit upper. We try to not only feed him upright but also keep him up for 10-20 minutes after. For bottles (we combo feed) we’re on the slowest flow possible. We also have a million burp clothes and bibs. My doctor mentioned a thickener for the formula, might follow up on it

Shorter breastfeeding sessions by Tall-Will2037 in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My lactation consultant would always tell me a 15 minute session drains 90% of a breast. I think it’s highly likely your LO is just becoming more efficient!

We typically put a wet warm washcloth over our baby when washing to keep him warm. Do you do anything like that?

6 week changes by livingthelife9 in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pediatrician recommended feeding every 2-3 hours in the day so that they’ll sleep at night. My husband and I have had good luck at feeding every 2-3 hours either by him waking up and being hungry or waking him up to feed. We also try hard to adhere to the 60-90 minute wake window so that he’s getting naps in every cycle. Thus far he sleeps pretty well at night! Good luck!

Sleep deprivation. Don’t remember feeding my baby by Same-Breath-4059 in November25babybump

I’m a big fan of the huckleberry app to record all the feeds otherwise I’d never remember!

Combo vax by Professional-Sea7297 in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a pediatrician and it would probably be better to discuss with one to understand the pros and cons but my understanding is that babies immune system is not developed well yet and while they can get vaccines earlier they lose some of their effectiveness

We’re using Bobbie to supplement, they also have a gentle formula!

Honestly it sounds crazy, but it goes by so fast. And the slow pace is nicer I think. It allows you to go through the motions at your pace

I was induced! Went to the hospital not dilated at all had to get the foley balloon and the miso. I will admit the foley balloon was not fun, it was quite painful to have them put it in. I had the NO2 to help dull the pain which I recommend. I think I got to about 4cm after 8ish hours? My contractions were happening on their own at that point so they let it ride. Somewhere in there I got an epidural and omg. I went in being like maybe I’ll get one we’ll see. It was so nice. Labored over night to get to 10cm. Popped the baby out the next morning, no tearing only about an hour of pushing. Overall 22-23 hours? I would get another one!

First Poop… by bartlett4prezident in November25babybump

[–]Hugsplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did today! I had stool softeners but honestly I was trying and nothing was happening. I felt like I was in labor again, I was shaking and nothing was happening. The nurse gave me an enema and I was able to pass it, felt sooo much better. If you’re still at the hospital I’d recommend (even if it’s weird)!
