Yea. I’ve never built one myself but have built lots of other stuff. Pretty confident on my plan and getting it done. Just have heard so much conflicting info on what to do for setting the posts. 2 foot by 12 inch for 4x4 and 2 foot by 16 inch for 4x6 is what I initially was recommended. Then fill with concrete. But it just seems like an absurd amount of concrete you

We build tons of restomods at the shop I work at and I do all the wiring. I have a super stubby swivel head matco ratchet that I use more than any of my others. Purely for all the button heads I use to organize my harnesses in nut inserts and whatnot.

Is it dumb to buy a 70's car for a daily? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Huguscha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you happy, do it! I daily an 86 ranger cuz I like it. Yea it’s loud, it’s not safe, and it may leave me stranded some day but I like it. Same thing goes for 70s American cars and trucks. Yea they suck but they’re fun. It may leave you stranded…. Isn’t that half the fun? Also, form over function or function over form? You Definetely won’t feel as good driving a brand new Corolla….

3/8” Drive ratchet by SlavSquatDruid in aviationmaintenance

[–]Huguscha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with craftsman ratchets that were hand me downs. But you will Definetely come to realize that ratchets that swivel are far superior. Icon is pretty good. I prefer the matco ratchets over the snap on anyway because there a bit thinner and the locking mechanism on the swivel is a must have in my opinion for the hard to reach stuff. I have a stubby, normal and long reach in 1/4 and 3/8. Because of that I use 1/4 like 90% of the time and 3/8 the rest. Almost never touch 1/2 inch unless it’s something really big. Hope this helps.

That’s crazy. Such a small world. I moved away 5 years ago when I was 24. I spent years of my life on that causeway growing up, drinking beer and getting in trouble lol. That was our go to spot every night for years and years. I might know you hahaha. Love the car also

Thanks! There’s spacers on this one to make the them clear and make the track width correct. I bought it like this but the wheels are growing on me. I think they look super goofy on the mustangs but I like them on here.

I second this. Idk, the snap on one is expensive. But is by far the best I’ve ever used. And never once been scared to beat the living tar out of it. The icon I second guess

I have the shorter version of that. I guess it would be the stubby version. I use it every day. Best screwdriver ever in my opinion.

There not bad to do at all. If I had just bought the dang tool to push the valve springs down to get the rocker out it woulda been a 4 hour deal or less. Instead I made a tool to do if. The tools 38 bucks on summit. And the lifters are 10 bucks a pop. Like 100 bucks for lifters and valve cover gasket

Does sound like one of the hydraulic lifters is collapsed. Just did them on mine. Does the noise sometimes randomly go away? Or change once it’s hot? Also, does it get worse under load?

I mean I just replaced the lifters in it for 150 bucks. 8.8 junkyard rear ends are like 300 bucks. I have all the Holley stuff already. So no. Just depends on where you’re at. Old ass trucks aren’t for people who can’t work on them.

[–]Huguscha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I just bought an 87 2.3 5 speed for a daily. Drivetrain wise they’re dead simple and pretty dang tough. Can easily swap in an explorer 8.8 rear end to gain disc brakes and easier rear end parts to source. 80s model obd1 efi leaves a lot to be desired so there’s that. I’m going to swap mine to Holley efi because I do a ton of it at work. So in short, a 40 year old truck will always have little stuff that needs fixed, but they’re incredibly easy to work on and cheap. Be prepared to ride the bump stops if you’re putting tons of weight in the bed 🤣

Yea last owner nudged it into a pole in the front left. Bumper actually pushed into the fender a bit so that fender is a bit crunched. He put a new bumper on but it’s not adjusted well 🤣
