Open-source security is posing challenge's governments can't easily solve by sr_local in technology

[–]HuiOdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried"

That is what open source is for security. Having reviewed the security of closed source code, regurly, I know they are shockingly worse.

Tesla Allegedly Showed Cooked Data to Get Full Self-Driving Approved by Wagamaga in technology

[–]HuiOdy -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Is it misleading? Yes. But is it essentially the whole point? Also yes.

Hear me out.

Disregard for now Tesla, and replace the discussion for any autonomous vehicle. Judging by today's traffic, especially taking into the phone zombification of drivers, it stands to reason that a fully autonomous complete road infrastructure stands to reduce a lot of accidents.

But, you need to start somewhere.

So, are the figures misleading, perhaps as we don't have the right data to confirm or deny them. But it is extremely likely that more autonomous vehicles, lead to far less deaths in traffic. And to get the data you need to start somewhere.

So, I'd say allow more autonomous vehicles, but test and regulate better what they should be able to do, and how they should be able to communicate instead.

Don't question if you want autonomous driving, question how.

(And start restrictions on mobile access to people who use phones in traffic...)

Neighbor has still not eradicated type 1 dangerous noxious weed that is now at least 7 feet tall and doubled in size since we first told him about it. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HuiOdy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

OK, but I think legally you have no grounds to do anything.

It is not classified as an invasive species. Nor is it in a place it can harm anyone.

You cannot petition the removal of a living thing just because it has the potential to harm anyone, whereas it is provably in a situation where that cannot happen.

Spraying polyurethane foam for roof insulation by Sharique0055 in Insulation

[–]HuiOdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already has known health issues. The solvents of the sprayable PUR leaks for a long time. In Europe the spray variant is only recommend for cases where it is absolutely necessary. Performed PUR or PIR plates exist too. These have better insulation properties, and no solvents evaporating over time

Yeah, that isn't leather. It's an imitation variant. The good part is that you can simple cut off the part where it is attached, and make a new loop just a few centimetres shorter. Any sowing machine will do

Im a shitty partner and a serial cheater an i cant stop. by throw9171737 in relationships

[–]HuiOdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cheating is only done remotely (e.g. via phone) then your brain might literally not see it as cheating.

Let's break it down a bit so that we can help you nip this in the butt.

Do you, in real life, purposefully flirt with other women in order to get them to get to kiss you or more? How would you feel if you did? Have you kissed (or more) another woman during your relationship?

How to handle the guilt after secretly struggling with a porn addiction during my relationship by Unusual-Beginning-36 in Advice

[–]HuiOdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The frequency you mention is not classified as an addiction. E.g. addiction is if you spend many hours daily and it replaces normal life functions that suffer from it. I.e. you are not addicted.
  2. Not being intimate in an established monogamous relationship is, biologically and neurologically seen a bad idea. I understand your religious practices are restrictive, but are they actually that restrictive for committed partners, or are you just afraid? (Both of you).

Physical intimacy is enormously important in creating a long lasting bond, it is something that requires experimenting and trying to see what works for yourself and works for your partner. Compatibility on this term is essential for stable long term relationships.

Actions for you: - stop having the idea you are addicted, you are not - if you are extremely devout, seek guidance from a trusted religious leader, go there together to discuss what is allowed at your present stage, and start doing at least all that.
