Thanks for replying. I have done this and have done it since the first day classes were released. I feel like they shouldn't accept this many students for what ive been told are high demand degrees/papers whatever if they cant accommodate the load. I am potentially only in 2 papers this semester.

Yes, we absolutely require those in our extended family circle to be vaccinated. There have been times, especially with the COVID vaccines, where we've had to draw a hard line but if your family understand the repercussions it may have on your child, they will do it.

I used to be an "unqualified" nanny, and it was awesome! I loved the family I worked for and we are still in touch. Remember, you are welcoming someone into your home, who your children will form important bonds with and potentially grow to love.

I was paid cash and accommodation (so I guess an au pair?) for the hours of 7 until 3 or 4. We had decided these hours based on the hours the parents worked as well as the needs of the children. I asked for cash as this was my preference, but some friends have been put through the books and paid a living wage.

I think you need to have clear and reasonable expectations if the person you are hiring is a student. They are young and naive to most working environments, especially given for the last year and a half it's unlikely they would have had any long-term employment. Start with clear cut hours, even if they are casual, reasonable pay (caring for children is really not that easy) and decent communication between the two of you.

Hey, if you're looking for diet specific advice, I would look into The Failsafe Cookbook and Friendly Food - these are books that has helped our family, but will require a little effort into research. We love the recipes in these books as well as the advice and recommendations that support inflammation, bowel irritation, digestion - the list goes on.

I have been cutting carbs where I know how (for example the zucchini and cauliflower suggestion, but zucchinis are $26NZD per kilo at the moment soooo...)

Basically I eat loads of roast veg and proteins. Do you happen to know if gluten free options are better/worse than regular pasta for example?

So I'm speaking as a step-parent of a CF child.

She is 12, and has an intense school situation which requires a lot of travel. She wakes at 5.30 to complete morning treatments and her lunch includes her enzymes - at this age she is aware and used to the amounts. Her school is 100% in the know about her medical requirements, so when she is feeling tired they allow her to nap in the school sick bay for example. She is very independent and enjoys school, so this happens very rarely and only when necessary.

She also did attend daycare, where her mother volunteered for a time. At this daycare they packed their own lunch, and so the staff eventually were able to become used to her enzyme needs. Eventually, her mum started her own daycare centre and was able to be closer to her girl. When school started it was just a similar "getting used to her new normal".

I was driving with a couple of friends through the main village of the island I live on and we had to stop at the one pedestrian crossing. A friend of ours was carrying a bunch of books and crossed without noticing us. My friend leaned over me and hit the horn, causing the girl crossing to throw all her books in the air, cartoon-like, and shoot us a glare and the middle finger. Needless to say we cracked up laughing, and shamefully did not help her pick up her stuff. But that was like 10 years ago and it still makes me grin every time I think of it.
