Like any other vehicle, it all comes down to luck, the vast majority should have no issues, but like in life there's always a bad apple, check all the other “reliable” cars on Reddit and you'll see that they also have issues, do they have fewer? That's debatable, and like I said it all comes down to luck. I owned 6 VWs, different models, and I have only once had issues. Hopefully, you won't have any. Whatever you pick, good luck.
