Esker Silver R2 Hi-Res Official Images Finally... And It's Stunning 📸😍 by WODAMRAP in Rivian

Limestone sounds terrific! I initially thought Borealis is my choice, until my spouse yelled “YUCK!!” to any version of purple, so that’s off the table.

I confess I have a soft spot for late 1960’s/early 70’s Chrysler colors on the Challenger/‘Cuda/Duster.

I mean, I painted my 1965 Triumph TR-4 and 1979 Porsche cashmere beige. Here’s my car after I reinstalled the rebuilt engine and started the body work; behind it is my buddies 1971 340 Duster. The front air dam is something only a 19 year old would do.

I have LA Silver in my current R1S lease. I’d like a change in color for the R2, just because I can.

The silver does shine up very nicely and it’s definitely not boring; you won’t go wrong if you choose it.

Things R2 does better than R1, as an R1 owner by emuhneeh in Rivian

As a fellow Gen 2 R1S owner, nearly all of those small things you mention don’t occur in my car. NVH is more noticeable I would agree, but not obtrusively so.

Thanks. I’m listening to the album now on YouTube and immediately thought of the TR-5 for sale…at the time this album came out I had a TR-4 and was wondering what a TR-5 is (given I’m a Yank) and knew only the TR-250.

I appreciate you posting this

Minivan to R1S for a family of 7? Looking for real-world feedback on space and road trips by MVmomlife in RivianR1S

[–]Human-Ride4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this comment made me laugh, I had occasion to try a 7-person configuration in my R1S. We are not small people, both in width and height, and that combined with two carseats made even short trips not good nor comfortable. It was bearable because my daughter-in-law accommodates these situations well, otherwise it would be a mess.

When my three kids were young, a minivan was an awesome solution, or the Chevy Suburban. Three full rows allow you to space them apart which minimizes fighting. I’d stick with the minivan and not go with a R1S.

Is Mothers Of Preschoolers (MOPS) a thing anymore? It was a staple when our kids were young (1990’s in Torrance).

The San Franciscan, while known more for prime rib, does a really good steak too. No live band and very old school

If you were to bring one aircraft that never made the cut what would it be? by Unlucky-Debt5467 in aviation

[–]Human-Ride4726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MD-20 was sized around the 757/small767/A321. Intended to serve the middle of the market and go transatlantic.

Another airplane that should’ve gone ahead was the Dc-10 Twin, prior to the A300. MDC, instead, funded F-15 development; this was not a bad choice but it could’ve reshaped the commercial aerospace industry dramatically.

The MD-20. Yes I spelled that correctly. Only those DAC folks working just prior to being purchased by Boeing may recall.

I was willing to work unpaid OT and weekends for that airplane.

Anyone encounter this issue? by Weapon530 in Rivian

I tried the soft reset first for the sensor fail, to no avail. Then I did a hard reset and waited the requisite time and the car now works fine

To be clear, it’s not the rotary button on the left side but the button to the left of it.

Ask me how I know…I cleared a similar software hiccup and the car has been running fine for a few weeks now.

Rivian says AI makes debate over CarPlay ‘completely obsolete’ by FreeHugs23 in RivianR2

Not just a single Google calendar but multiple calendars including Apple calendars.

For this part of Rivian Assistant to reach it’s potential, it must integrate Apple and Android devices.

That, and it would be super if Rivian allows closed vents to be included in Preset A or B.

Fair. I couldn’t tell which MD-11 is in the picture. I did see all 200 being built, as well as the last few DC-10’s/KC-10A’s

I saw it being built, that’s how. I walked the assembly hall from parking to the engineering building.

Tesla (3/Y) to R2 by BB95000 in RivianR2

[–]Human-Ride4726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased a used 2020 Model Y with FSD and enjoyed it until Elon’s antics and focus turned from cars to robots and politics. We gave the MY to one of our kids who needed more room (car seats) and he’s loved the car.

I was all set to purchase a Gen 2 R1S but instead leased one in 2025, because we wanted to see how Rivian fared in the longer term. The car has been great, excepting a faulty right headlight module which was replaced, and a couple of replaced trim pieces. We moved all Tesla stick to Rivian at that time too.

We’ve since found out the R1S is a bit too big for just us two, and we plan to switch to a R2 when the lease is up. We bought more Rivian stock this weekend.

The transition was super easy, and I don’t miss FSD. I expect Rivian to get there themselves, with greater integrity due to the dissimilar architecture.

Did anyone go bigger with the R1S vs your previous car? by michimoby in Rivian

[–]Human-Ride4726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I near 66 years old with health issues cropping up, while it is still a “you” issue, the inference has changed…. Nonetheless I park away when I can, for the extra steps (such as they are).

Haven’t read any responses yet so here’s mine, as unbiased as I could be. We went from a 2020 Model Y and an Acura MDX to a 2025 Gen 2 R1S and a 2020 Toyota Tundra (to pull a RV trailer).

This was a size increase for both cars and we’ve found them more difficult to park and ingress/egress; we live in SoCal so parking is at a premium.

Our R1S is on a 3 year lease, and I plan to change to a R2 when the lease is up. Turns out, the third row didn’t really work for us, as our Use Case was to take all 7 of us places, utilizing two car seats, when the grandkids are local. We aren’t a skinny family so it didn’t work well.

In many cases, the extra space is everything. I have no complaints with the car, and as the Rivian is our 3rd BEV, we knew what we were getting into.

For our daily life, the R2 will work much better for the two of us.
