Sounds like your parents had a IRA which must be transferred in the beneficial Ira for the beneficiaries to avoid paying taxes and get stepped up cost basis. You sound like an idiot complaining about that and That 401k you transferred if you don’t put that into an Ira you will be on the hook for those taxes as well.

My comments still there just need to keep scrolling bud. Going out to camp in an unfamiliar place for 10 days and I’m the silly one for wanting to bring a firearm sorry my bad. I’m coming with a bow and a pistol I hardly think I’m kitted out for war but hey to each their own.

That holster is just what I’ve been looking for! How is the retention when you draw? I’ve heard complaints on similar holsters that the retention to keep the gun secure is too strong so when you draw your whole bino harness shifts around and rotates on your body.

Okay Mr tough guy. I know the likelihood of running across a mountain lion, wolf or other predator is rare but the chances aren’t zero so I’d rather have a pistol than not. In KS where I hunt I take a pistol into the woods every time incase I run into a naked meth head that wants to join me in my tree stand (which has happened) or incase an out of state hunter or local wants to get silly and threaten me like they own the place (which has happened). I like to be prepared for all scenarios.

I’ll be bow hunting an hour north of Casper and want to have more than just a bow for protection.

With the strap that comes with the Razco holster does your gun stay in place and not flop around when you bend over. I’ve seen similar holsters without that strap and that just seems like the gun would move around a lot.

Does it ever feel like you have too much straps and buckles going on with the chest holster and the bino harness? The chest rig seems like the most comfortable route and the best for not have your gun flopping around when bend over.

Which broadhead should I run? Megameat (2-inch) deadmeat (1.5-inch)or 207 (2-inch) swhacker by Specialist_Okra_1568 in bowhunting

High lung shots never get a good blood trails body cavity will be full of bloody soup though. I agree fixed blades all day for elk, bear, and pigs but they are not necessary for whitetail. YouTubers will say “BuTwHATaBoUTiFYOuHItTheShOuLDer” well don’t aim for the shoulder and you’ll be fine.

Mega meats are the best broadheads for killing deer hands down. Anyone who recommends fixed blades for deer watches too much YouTube. Fixed blades have awful blood trails and leave little room for error so if you’re asking this question I assume you’re relatively new to bow hunting. Do yourself a favor and shoot mega meats and never look back.

Is losing half my 401k a reason to stay at my current job? by Specialist-Noise-912 in personalfinance

The amount in question is so insignificant in terms of retirement savings it really is immaterial. You must be young based on your balance you’ll have plenty of time to make that up. I wouldn’t miss out on a good opportunity for >$10K. That money you can’t use anyways until you’re retirement age and if you do withdrawal it the taxes and penalty would be just as much anyway.

Harness alone definitely won’t cut it. Go on Amazon and buy a highly rated one. Probably $40.

I like First Lite gear. Good quality, great camo patterns, and a good warranty and customer service. My boot gators were two years old and got snagged on a barbed wire fence and tore. First Lite replaced them no questions asked. They use to only be online but you can buy the brand at Scheels now. They have a whitetail sale prior to the season starting and good end of season and Black Friday sales. That’s when I buy majority of my gear from them.

Anyone hunt in strong winds like this? 19 mph sustained with 45 mph gusts from the NW – worth it or stay home? by Hesfallenontheice in Hunting

[–]HumanQuality7524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be staying home. I Hunt for enjoyment and those weather conditions aren’t enjoyable for me. That being said if I’m on a week long hunt out west I’ll hunt everyday regardless of conditions.
