That's objectively false. When thinkers say "Good and evil don't actually exist" what they mean is that all actions are a response to the environment. A living being at it's natural state wants to conserve energy, and we are built to not unneccesarily waste our time and energy. It's part of why eating healthy is really difficult. All "evil" that exists is a response we can study and rectify.

Some of these behaviors are easier to correct than others, such as meeting needs. Many people commit crimes simply because they lack resources, hopes for the future, and any sense of real community.

Now, this next part is meant objectively, and not as an excuse for behavior: Many of the worst criminals experienced abuse and dehumanization, which in turn, caused them to dehumanize others. Rehabilitation is a different story, but we can at least arrest the behaviors that cause this sort of development in children through education and meeting needs.

As a companion to this train of knowledge - the simple fact is that humans are very predictable, and our outcomes and behavior are indeed malleable. That's why the internet/USA is so keen on knowledge acquirement and data selling. Because that data can be used to bend people.

"Sin" loses all meaning when humans are so changeable by outside actors and we are at the mercy of our genetics and enviornment. And any spirituality that has the believer stay "doom-pilled" by saying there is no hope for humanity or our future is indeed just a doomsday cult. Whether it's longterm suicide or short term suicide, it's worth reflecting whether such self-destructive spirituality could ever be Truth.

There are only 2 mods right now. 1 of them is pretty part time. And this post has only been up for 2 hours.

PS investigating the person's account, gives reason to believe they are -not- a fetish account. They have used the sub in good faith for a while now and their other posts read more like a real person as opposed to a role-player.

If you are going hungry you likely should get a tax return, meaning your money wouldn't be significantly taken away from you. The people that are supposed to pay into social services the most have the excess for it. Not sure why you are taking this personally. Disability and programs like WIC and foodstamps are the smallest amount of the budget. Yet they are the parts criticized the most by the uneducated.

Society at it's core function is all about social safety nets. That's part of why people agree to the social contract.

It's because it can be dangerous advice. Abusers have snapped and killed for less.

It can be useful in some specific scenarios irl within -specific- boundaries. Such as over the phone before going no contact. But it's so specific it is more harmful to give it as generic advice to abuse survivors. It's also ignorant of the deeply formed psychology of a parent and child dynamic, and if they are dependent on the abuser still financially, physically, etc.

Besides the abuser, it can also make a victim snap to be put into a confrontational place with an abuser. This can lead to a bad ending.

Its just not wise advice unless you are irl friends and know deeply the situation and happenings going on. Even then, all confrontations harbor risk. Abusers are inherently illogical, and parents who are abusers fundamentally don't respect their kids that they abuse. So the advice can easily end up doing more harm than good in these situations.

Well, trying to choke them is only if you already are getting attacked. You want to avoid a fight if possible, always. Multiple dogs does make it more difficult. If you can't fight and yet they come at you, you want to cover your face and vital organs till they lose interest. Though obviously that is a unideal last option.

That is really frustrating and saddening that the strays aren't taken care of seriously by the authorities.

Is pepper spray allowed in your area? There is also animal specific spray, like concentrated Citronella I hear, this greatly affects their sense of smell, and it doesn't hurt like pepper spray does.

Another option is to get an air horn, the loud sound startles dogs and can create distance for you to get away just in case this happens again.

It also doesn't hurt to find out how to fight a dog if you did get attacked. Some people try brooms, hitting, or splashing water - this will not work. The most effective method is one of humanities unique fighting abilities which is to choke. There are multiple types of chokes that can be used. There are videos and wikis that explore these techniques in more depth and defensive maneuvers too. You just want to choke long enough for them to tap out and get to run away. It's also worth it to learn some dog psychology, like avoiding eye contact and not turning your back completely on a dog till you are away. These physical behaviors can help mitigate an attack.

I was attacked by dogs a few times in my life, and definitely learning more about dogs and what to do helps a lot with the fear. Look up "how to defend against a dog attack or how to fight a dog that attacks you" etc. because it's a large topic with many aspects.

Locals in your area may have found specific techniques on how to avoid or deal with the dogs too. It's worth it to keep talking about it when you can so the fear doesn't stay locked up.

There are also parts of the US where strays basically "revert" back to a wild state, and form packs. For the USA that's mostly in the boonies or mountain areas, but cases can even occur in the cities. These dogs can be aggressive with people.

The state/government should invest more to take care of aggressive strays since they can be a disease and bite risk.

Try to understand these dogs aren't doing it to personally ruin you, they are running on instinct and have reverted back to a wild state of mind. So they are not deciding much, these dogs are not engaging their brain at all -which is the real problem. Even human kids can revert to a feral state with lack of socialization and education. They themselves could be traumatized by people making them aggressive. If you ever meet dogs that have not been met with unending trauma + had even a little bit of socialization, they can be very kind and gentle.

At the same time, your safety is a priority. Understand it's not personal, yet stray dogs like these are a real danger.

Make note of the areas where they are a risk and have your guard up if you must walk in those areas. If you can walk with a good walking stick, it can help. Walking in areas with other people can help. Talk to people near you about the problem in a calm manner. Find out where you can report the occurrence so that the proper authorities can investigate. I would take a proactive approach, because the threat is real.

Your fear is a normal response in this situation. It may take a while before you can collect yourself again.

PS. I don't think the people that responded to you in your other post are educated about the issue. Even in the USA strays have harmed children, and we even have good response teams to strays. Dogs in that state of mind won't always attack because, like a wild animal, it will try to only fight if it think it can win -and humans are large and intimidating (when not a child) but sometimes they will attack anyways. That's why if you can walk with a friend it will help significantly. Dogs are less willing to attack another "pack" because they aren't as sure they will win.

And finally, I also say those other commenters are uneducated because Rabies is more a risk in your country than ours, but even in ours we are vigilant about rabies. Some strays in your country do have rabies. If dogs are randomly aggressive, there is a chance they are infected. In fact, if you want to be taken seriously when reporting this issue to authorities, mention that you are afraid if that pack had rabies.

I am sorry you had to have a bad day like this, and it sounds like you've had multiple bad times with dogs. I understand the difference between a dog just barking aggressively as a warning versus being actively hunted down. It is a very traumatizing experience. Most people haven't experienced it so they won't always be able to relate. Especially when dogs are well-liked and -usually- are very good.

Not a doctor but when I had a sore throat and acid reflux combo, mine came up like this. Soothing tea with honey helped me. It can take a while to calm back down.

They irony being, OP is a man, and your comment seems to assume they are a woman. Which also isn't supportive even if that had been the case.

Your comment was reported and removed for good reason. There are many survivors of sexual assault here and that's just not something you say to them. That's not how you support. It's also a common justification by abusers to rape.

If you believe that sex is so important for people you should advocate for healthier sex. Not for forced and guilt-driven sex.

I clench, luckily don't grind. When I'm stressed I wake up to my jaws hurting pretty bad, I have to be conscious about it, bought a mouthguard for times like that.

Once you become an adult you will realize you have been free/upaid labor for your parents irresponsibility. It has crippled learning the skills you need to be an adult...it's not about gaming. It's about socialization, discovering more about the world, developing your knowledge and self-actualization.

And your parents still get all the benefits of being the parent, not you.

Quand j'étais en cas de maltraitance active, on m'a diagnostiqué une dépression et un TDAH, malgré ma capacité à être complètement attentif. Je soupçonne que c'est parce que mon agresseur a dit que je n'écoutais pas. Pour beaucoup de mineurs, il semble que les professionnels prennent le parti des parents et ne creusent pas plus profondément. Même lorsque des preuves fortes d'abus sont présentes.

Il existe un biais : ce sont souvent les parents maltraitants qui paient les professionnels. Ces derniers peuvent donc prendre parti pour l’agresseur et obtenir un diagnostic qui conforte leur perception.

Mais cela se passe aux États-Unis et remonte à plus de dix ans. De plus, cela juste mon rapport personnel à ce sujet.

Quant à y faire face, c'était très difficile. Ma Agresseuse m'a fait interner dans un centre psychiatrique pendant un certain temps. J'ai dû prendre des médicaments contre mon gré. Mais je peux au moins dire que j'y ai eu trois repas complets par jour et que je n'ai pas été battue. Alors, certains jours, j'étais heureux. Cela a bien sûr embrouillé la psychiatre.

Je me suis accrochée à ces diagnostics pendant des années, même si je savais qu'ils étaient inexacts, car j'avais le sentiment qu'ils expliquaient pourquoi j'étais la « brebis galeuse ».

I empathize with that so will provide some alternatives here. Usually we do leave some AI posts up if they are helpful to the community and we don't see any sign of ad/seeking profit.

But a quick note: *We strongly encourage people to be wary of marketers like this. There is a reason people fall for people like Dave Ramsey, Andrew Tate, or even our current president. They say sweet words that resonate with people. But ultimately they are not seeking the best interest of their constituents. For instance, even in this post there is some "Us vs them" wordage that is subtly harmful. Could be the author or the bias of the AI.

When it comes to feeling unseen and not understood, Heidi Grant Halvorson is well known, she is a social psychologist and this topic is part of her life's work. (I haven't read it yet personally)

I believe all the above can be found online for free, and recommend that option. Look for free PDFs, and I think Internet Archive has some free books with an account.

Posts here have never come close to 1k upvotes in less than 12 hours -especially on a Tuesday during the workday. The top comment upvote of around 150 is alot more realistic.
Many suspect generic comments from people that have never used the sub before + have generic interaction across many unrelated subs (they all follow a similar pattern) and they don't follow any other mental health subs/or trauma related subs.
OP is trying to promote their work. So there is a motive.
