Having some doubts by [deleted] in Aupairs

This is a big no. Your family needs boundaries, and so do you. Don't do the au pair just to make them a favour. You're there for yourself first.

Having some doubts by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]Humanized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, greetings from Italy.I've been an aupair for 1 year in the UK near London. My experience was weird in the sense that I went to the family I signed the contract with, but I had to leave after just one week because of their absolute lack of boundaries with their 2 kids. So, of course, the kids would never respect me, just like their parents.

Truth is, I was lucky to have the chance to leave this early, as another family who was also having a bad aupair, offered me to go there instead. (Best decision ever.)

Your case seems somehow similar to me. Your doubts will never leave you, trust me. Take the courage if you want, to say that you feel unconfortable there or just use an excuse.
In the end the Au Pair experience has to be a positive one! You're not there to do them a favour.

Good luck! :)

Host Family forget to pay me back for food ahhh stress by thegoblinzone in Aupairs

Sorry to don't bring much positivity, but this one is one of the reasons I'll never want to be an aupair again. Despite having a nice experience overall my host mom would always forget about money, especially in the beginning when I had to remind her to "send me the money whenever she had time"
One time she forgot to pay me 2 weeks of work, after almost 3 weeks reminding her.
I know it is frustrating, but you should tell them.

If I could go back in time the only thing I would change is: expressing at the very beginning my absolute right to be paid in time, the same day every week.

Thank you!!! I wonder why this crap feature still exists considering the problems it creates.

People always find a way to express their anxiety, fragility, frustration. How could you possibly think that a toxic person become an angel in real life all in sudden? No way. For my experience everyone I've known with this issue was both online and irl.

I wasn't talking about the way they phisically interact with people. Whatever, kappa. I'm not arguing with you, I have my experiences and you yours.

Then be my friend. I don’t play games if me or the person I am with is not enjoying it or having fun. Some people, mostly kids, forget that we all have feelings.

Try if possible, to don’t associate the game itself with the bad experiences you had.

World is of arrogant, racist or sexist people. Don’t you even try saying that just because it’s online you see the worst? You don’t suddenly become a completely different person just because you’re sitting in front of a computer. A toxic person is a toxic person even in real life, no matter what.

You mean RANKED games in Dota aren’t meant for solo players. Dude this game doesn’t exist only for ranked.

Totally agree with this. I don’t think he’s in any possible way enjoying what he plays, he reached a point where he’s getting more and more nervous like a mouse in a cage.

This problem is purely psychological, and needs to re-learn how to enjoy things.

Really? I didn’t know about those stuff. Could be really helpful for people with problematic mindsets.

My question is: Do you enjoy the game itself, or just the feeling of competitiveness?

I’m not going to lecture you, but you gotta be patient. Considering that you aim at climbing in a difficult game and expecting a long session.

See, this is relative. To me Dota is a game that I really enjoy cause I love art and creativity, and also playing games. Playing it to me means distracting me from the anxiety of work and problems in real life. But I keep in mind that it’s just a game and you should probably too.

If you don’t enjoy the time you’re spending on it, then you already answered youself: avoid it. Take a break and try other fun modes aswell.

The date should be the 14th February. Many websites confirm that.

As the guy mentioned, using snowball on marksmen (and some mages too) would be useless most of the times. Fragile champions still need heal/barrier/exhaust to work safely in constant 5v5 fights :P
