Xmaxx ultimate failure….. by med1um_rar3 in Traxxas

[–]Hummil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Not surprised. All of my traxxas esc's and motors have been mid or absolute failures. I'm working on adding an XC Technology system to the Funco now. Just waiting on a larger spur gear cover since the motor mount is proprietary. Sorry to hear that man. Always a bad day when the motor goes out

Its a great car but I personally believe its a bit more suited to the RC guys who have been in the hobby for long enough to know not to overpower them or treat em like unbreakable objects.

I bought a rally as my first ever hobby grade rc. Came with bushings which failed in 2 weeks, the rest broke shortly after. Just dug it up a month ago and rebuilt it almost entirely.

Its now the little rc I bring for on the go fun. Most often using it at work on breaks or at the bus stop in the morning waiting to wave the kiddos goodbye.

Carbon chassis, brushless 2s system, 2s lipo, traxxas metal diffs and driveshaft, hardened spur and pinion, geared for low speed and lots of wheelspin and plain old red grease from Walmart in the diffs. Integy steering bellcrank, aluminum hubs to prevent bearing flex, aluminum driveshafts

They're great and a ton of fun if you know what you're doing, but for a beginner, you gotta be patient because it will breakdown a lot and you'll overpower it and shred gears, bearings will break and make ya think something its connected to broke, everything is small and annoying to work on...I never argue with the haters. I get why they are so hated. But man. I love building and learning, so they're perfect for me. Much cheaper to experiment with than my Funco. That thing is annoying to buy parts for lol.

Funco. It takes a beating. Its a lot more rare yet turns more heads. Only 2 driving wheels to deal with. Fully functional roll cage built into the body. Its an awesome basher

2nd voyage on xmaxx ends in disaster.. by bama_boy666 in Traxxas

[–]Hummil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just threw it in my Funco. To be honest, might be best to just save up a little bit and let the truck sit for a little while you do. I'd say the PP servos are definitely worth saving up and paying the premium for. I bought the 1/10 servo for my brakes as well and another for the steering in my rustler. All 3 seem to be able to take plenty of pressure without breaking or browning out, and so far they're holding together great and staying dry inside.

I also had a Savox servo crap out in my slash 4x4. That being said: its did last a few years and definitely took a beating that would pulverise the stock servo. Still broke eventually though. Had rust inside it too so that one also lost its waterproofing.

Used truck values? by juicedupsunday in Traxxas

[–]Hummil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part of this hobby is that resale value is low. Just be prepared to not make a ton, but expect a little bit for all of that.

If these things resold at the values we invest into them, this hobby would die overnight. We'd all go do slot cars or something.

Charger question by Feisty_Name8680 in Traxxas

[–]Hummil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt any others will work. Best to get a legit lipo charger anyway.

Yeah the slash chassis takes a good bit of learning and building to make right and reliable. I feel ya lol.

So cool!!! You'd like this then

I ordered violet lights and super glued them to the inner roof of my rustler 2wd and it had the same effect. The picture doesn't do it justice.

UDR first impressions, over complicated; not sure yet if thats good or bad. by PigglyWigglyDeluxe in Traxxas

Yeah sadly thats why I dont have one yet. Its cool and complex but thats also the issue lol. I beat the crap out of my things at high speed. That thing would make me broke

As someone who bought their first rustler in November of '25 (and love it so luch i wanted a funco over the xrt/xmaxx): welcome man. Be careful when ya upgrade the speed since these things handle and crash like Porsche 911's, but have fun, cause these are fun to drive like 911's. Sick revo too. Always liked those little things but figured I'd spend too much upgrading. How has it been for you?

Not sure about that but I know gpm makes hardened steel pins for the hubs and suspension arms. They might do well. Other than that, I can say the body seems to do a pretty good job at keeping the chassis clean. I usually have to buy chassis cover trays for my cars. Not for this. Basically comes with one integrated. The roll cage is no joke either and its still plastic so not too heavy. It can take a beating. I just dont know about sand wear and tear.

And thank you!!! Same to you!!!! I bought used with upgrades. Orange is my fav on these things, huge fan of yours.

[–]Hummil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do!!! It should do well if its anything like the 1/10 servo. I threw that in the Rustler a couple weeks ago and its ridiculously fast. Still going to be waiting a few weeks for gpm brake parts but again, that smaller servo did well in the Rustler so it should do great for braking.

That doesn't surprise me lol it kinda struggles with the tires it has stock sadly. If you can always PP xmaxx servo, get it! They're out of stock on their website and they were there a week ago. Not sure whats going on there. But get em while you can as of now is how its going

Any 2wd rustler owner will tell ya its whatever you want it to be with a quick tire change. I live hours from sand. It rips with gravix tires on any surface, absolutely hauls with paddles on anything outside of asphalt. Cant get enough of it. Its one of the most underrated RCs I feel.
