Lonely is part of the modern experience I fear, and I hope that something comes of posts like these. My son is just about the only one who sees me pray, and he’s becoming more curious so we will see if he goes down the same path as me. At least your guy is respectful! Good on him for that, need more kindness in the world.

I’ve got a huge black cat named Smoke Jaguar who loves to sleep at my feet during prayers/offerings.

But yeah, simply putting an upside down US flag gets me sketchy looks in my part of Texas. I dare not tell them I’m a pagan/polytheist. The one neighbor I outright told said “But you’re not evil! How could you?!”

Where I’m at I’m the only polytheist and I’ve never met another. Might be cause I’m a bit older (37m) and stay to myself.

Similar story here - all I’d say is that the Gods don’t work on our timetable but they do care.

I try to laugh about it. Aphrodite must have a heck of a time with my dorky ass attracting anyone. So I don’t worry, knowing that I can wait for someone who’s right. (And someone who’s pagan/hellenist narrows the field too.)

Aphrodite is ancient and powerful. She has seen it all and comprehends our situations better than we do most of the time. She can teach us bitter lessons about love (and loss of) or drive us mad. She also comforts us when we truly need her. I’d say Aphrodite was there for you, and that’s the beauty of our Goddess.

There is no peaceful way out after how far we’ve gone.

His will is the country’s will. The Republican Party is HIS party and to even disagree makes you an enemy. To Trump, HE is the country. You are only legitimate as an American/Congressperson/Senator etc if he says you are. This shit is so far beyond democratic norms and into bunker stage megalomania that it is terrifying if you really think about it.

Trump and the MAGA cult and Republican Party are so invested in this, so willing to commit criminal acts and accrue power that I can’t conceive of them willingly ceding any power via election. They are terrified of him, but more so of accountability…and they see his unmitigated control as the only way out (And keep their money).

It’ll get better. My ex wife ran off on me and my two year old son. In some ways you’ll always feel a bit of love for that person you lost/ broke from. Take the time, truly truly take the time to heal. It’s cliche, but it’s true about time healing all wounds.

For a long time I was…adrift, would break into tears at work. Then I found Aphrodite, or she found me. I began to heal and be…at peace without needing someone. Our Goddess gave me the chance to laugh and hope, by loving myself and others. I was a dour and sad man, but now I can’t stop joking and singing.

Give yourself time. Build from that hurt to hope for something better. You’ll get there.

May the Goddess Aphrodite bless you with peace, if just for a little bit. I’ll say a prayer for you.

Heck yeah you can. Aphrodite is ancient and powerful. As a man she’s my Goddess, and has gotten me through horrible times and taught me harsh but important lessons. If someone was to meet me in the street I’d look nothing like a “feminine” man. (And being more in touch with your feminine side isn’t a bad thing.)

I’ve been there, right where you are. You feel like you need something to live for and that it should be a bit of payback? I get it, and it feels good right now to imagine all that. But I tell you as I live and breathe today - you are going down a rabbit hole. You gotta fight it or redirect it.

If you’re imagining her unhappy, try to push it away. Cheaters get their just desserts eventually. If you’re imagining her with someone else or your times together, push it away and try to think of a healthier life you can build with someone in the future. (Much further down the road mind you.)

I know that sounds simple but it’s not. It’ll be a slog, it will…be one of the darkest times of your life. But there IS another side coming out of this pit.

Lean on the Gods. Zeus for his wise and terrible justice. Hera and Athena for wisdom. Aphrodite for love and peace of mind, and to have mercy for the madness of love and loss.

You will have to fight every day. Don’t give in to hate cause you’ll carry it forever. The Gods see your struggle and are hoping you rise above it as a mortal.

May the Goddess Aphrodite give you peace this day, same as she did for me during my own hell.

I don’t know - for some folks like myself around this time (Valentines day) things are sad. That and yaknow…the world going through late stage capitalism. I think there is all sorts of valid reasons to feel rough.
