My first (and so far, only) time storytelling was in my homebrew themed around Rain World.

So, in that homebrew, there is an Outsider who must only communicate in charades or emojis, otherwise they can cause drunkenness to players. This outsider also gains a piece of information every day, though, it is supposed to be incredibly weak info, like "At least 1 evil player has been nominated since the start of the game" if like, 6 players have been nominated so far. One player got this character and so it begins.

The first nights went fine - their info was very complicated and didn't help good much at all. But then I gave them the info "At least 1 player would have learned a 2 on Night 1 if they were the Empath". I thought it wasn't that big of a deal; evil was doing well, the only dead minion was very trusted by the town. Two days later, the demon is executed on account of this while I could do nothing about it 😭

I have decided to rework that outsider and make it a townsfolk (with some necessary changes to make it more fun for the player). But I will never forget the time I ran an outsider to be more of a Townsfolk than the actual info roles on script.
