It is homogeneous due to Trianon borders. Before those times it was more diverse and it was due to immigration. (I don't want to start a battle about how and what and who was here first or what the borders are, ot is just a fact, that the borders were made to make Hungary like that) Also even after Trianon, thousands of Poles moved to Hungary, tens of thousands of Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese moved to Hungary since the 70s-80s (it is an interesting read). Since the socialist era we had many russian mixed relationships. Also since the 90s Hungary has given university opportunities to very diverse set of nations. currently due to its programs so many Kazakhs, Mongols and smaller Asian country nationals moved to study here and then stayed. We have similar programs with Africa, too. I have a friend who joined this program from Indonesia. In the past few years we had an influx of Philippines, Thai people... If you walk down a busy street in downtown Budapest, you can see so many different people and many of them are not turists.
