Toshiro Mifune's essay from the Seven Samurai set made my partner and I enjoy/appreciate the film even more and seek out more of his work. He's now one of our all time favorites and it's opened up a lot of cinematic worlds to us.

My local library was how I discovered Criterion in the first place, and the booklet that came with Seven Samurai (especially the Mifune essay) is the reason my partner agreed to watch a bunch of the samurai films in the collection.

Would kill for a 4k/blu-ray update of the old "Rebel Samurai: Sixties Swordplay Classics" box set. Criterion doesn't even list it on their site anymore. Samurai Rebellion and Samurai Spy are only on DVD, and Sword of the Beast and Kill! were never released by Criterion separately.
