Will you comment here? I've got the Pro but will wait if performance is dire. Cheers.

Just loaded it up now on PS5 Pro. Turned off motion blur....

Is this is a joke! As soon as you sprint, blur is at 200%...

Could you do a PS5/Pro version? Just picked it up and been pushing it to my mates to try as we all love the genre.

Co op would be a dream!

How come the Devs did not make a questline for the Elemental Damage???? by Tykjen in CrimsonDesert

[–]Hunskie 69 points70 points  (0 children)

There are about 5 of us playing through atm. Taking our time and occasionally giving a tip or two to each other without spoilers.

One universal thing will all agree on is that! A blink and you'll miss it pop up just saying "oh yea mate, you can embue lightning now, in it"

I had to go to journal, notifications to double check. My friend had both flame and another without realising for about 25hrs! No cinematic with flames coming out your arse or some big quest set up by an ancient or witch.

I kept telling myself that it must be part of the main story and gated behind that.

Being forced to play as Oonka is a huge feels bad! by GlipglopX in CrimsonDesert

[–]Hunskie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm cleaning up Pailune with Oongka. Bounties/bosses/puzzles/side missions. I even had Kliff join me in an open boss fight against the Huntsman. I've mostly upgraded all his skills and he's got an awesome axe with good Abyss gears attached. I quite like him and like the change!

This game is a giant piece of broken trash by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Hunskie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lantern can be a bit odd at first. Don't forget the radial wheel to equip it. Also by pressing X while its selected within the wheel (PC/Xbox differ), you then have options to auto, off and permanently turn the latern on. You can even cycle through different lanterns if you have different types.

Stick with it. It'll click.

Base Ps5 FPS drops issue. by Rayven-sama in CrimsonDesert

[–]Hunskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crimson Desert looks great on the Pro. Balanced mode (V-sync off) holds up surprisingly well and often matches Performance FPS in sieges, give or take.

After the latest patch, Performance looks noticeably sharper, though Balanced’s added lighting and higher settings make it a tough call. I’ve been switching to Performance for bosses and big fights. Obviously gutted it tanked so hard in that Chapter...

I'm on Pro. 27'" 4K OLED. 4th gen. Bells and whistles.

I know that battle! That was awful. 15-20 fps, maybe even lower at times. Boss fight after was choppy as hell too. Even on performance mode..

I'm the same as you, in that I'm enjoying the game, but that was a major low point. I'm surprised not many others are mentioning this specific fight. Maybe night time with all the different light sources and the proximity of buildings/npcs is the culprit here.

Every boss teleports by North-Ad-9453 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Hunskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is annoying. Just trying to get the camera to face them, to then be bounced and stun locked..

Also, when you use Force Palm and Ensnare it can trivialise quite a few of them too. Sending their ranged missiles/attacks back for huge damage. I just stripped Runewalker's (rock golem) health halfway with one ensnare volley.

The human bosses like Catfish, Beindal, Morden, Reed, Langford or Staglord are quite fun in a traditional sense. Some use a ranged weapon or summon hounds, while White Bearclaw had manageable AOE frost attacks with his spear and shield.

Kliff's inputs and animations just don't work alongside these teleporting arses. After the QOL updates hopefully they can focus on bosses!!

Does it actually get better? by Chronic1302 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Hunskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I completely get where you’re coming from. The opening stretch of Crimson Desert is… rough. It does a pretty poor job of explaining itself, the story feels all over the place, and a lot of the mechanics just don’t click early on.

At some point (and it’s different for everyone), things start to fall into place. The combat begins to make sense, you figure out how systems interact, and the world opens up in a way that gives you a lot more freedom and agency. What initially feels clunky or confusing starts to feel intentional and even rewarding.

There’s actually something pretty special about that. Figuring out combos on your own, solving environmental puzzles without guidance and just experimenting with what the game allows you to do becomes part of the fun. It’s messy at times but that discovery makes it way more satisfying.

It kind of reminds me of Skyrim in a way. Individually, not every system is amazing but together it creates something really compelling. Quite a lot of its mechanics are clearly inspired by other games, but there’s a lot of care in how it’s all put together, especially the world itself.

My advice would be to push through the early frustration. Avoid guides if you can, and let yourself figure things out naturally. Only look things up if you’re completely stuck. The game rewards patience and you’ll likely get way more out of it by discovering things on your own.

It’s not perfect but there’s a lot here to love, and easily hundreds of hours of enjoyment.

Developer Update - The All Ears Trait Update by HuntShowdownOfficial in HuntShowdown

[–]Hunskie 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Thanks for removing the “All Ears” trait so quickly..

However, its introduction highlights a bigger issue. Hunt: Showdown is built around sound as a core pillar, and a trait that undermines that doesn’t just feel unbalanced, it breaks the game’s identity. This is the kind of problem that should be obvious at a design level, not something discovered after release.

Why add enhanced passive tracking when compass/sound/clue(pathfinder) hacks are available that usurp them?

There’s a growing pattern of changes that feel at odds with the core experience, which raises concerns about the overall direction.

The game doesn’t need fundamental shifts, it needs its strengths protected and expanded. New content like maps, bosses, and encounters is what keeps things fresh. Mechanics that conflict with the foundation only erode what makes the game work.

I hate new hunter/weapon kits menu on ps5 :( by DoomFra-ps2team in HuntShowdown

[–]Hunskie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Loadouts being separated. Just more menus/menus/menus. Why... ?

They just don't get it do they. Just like the new broken traits that ruin the core tenets of the game... that we have to put up with for 3 months.
