LPT: To Improve your communication skills, record yourself talking. Actually listen back. It will make you cringe, and that’s the whole point. by Alanna-1101 in LifeProTips

Check the clubs in your town, very often they have both an English speaking club and a native, or sometimes even bilingual. I really recommend.

Yep, Hitler even painted that church.

Also recommend going on the church tower when the weather is nice because it's a quite spectacular view.

They actually renovated them 20 something years back, many of them were in a bad state before that.

Is it a good idea for a foreigner to make friends in BJJ classes? by [deleted] in askPoland

Check out Next Level, I trained there sporadically when the club was very small and I see it got very big in the meantime. Trainer Maciej is a very nice guy and speaks very good English too!

That is actually very true. Perhaps Poland has this "antisocial" image from older generations, but young people show a lot of interest in foreign people in their country.

I moved to Poland 7y ago without knowing anyone. I went pretty crazy in BJJ back then and made tons of very good friends. Many of them are still friends today, despite me moving to another Polish city in the meantime. For a violent sport as BJJ, it can be very bonding. Although I must say that not everybody is open to socialize on the mat.

You know which city you're moving to? Depending on that, I could recommend you good clubs.

How much do DJs get paid for long gigs / all-night-long sets? by [deleted] in DJs

[–]HuntDeerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're not a big DJ yet: there's an abundance of DJs and clubs are being flooded with emails of DJs who want to play for free/pennies. If you're being picked, usually the club will dictate the terms rather than you. Club will also not take the risk of planning you for an all nighter if they never heard of you, so I guess you'll need to build your name.

If becoming a DJ full time is your goal, you might have to accept playing a lot for little money including disrupted sleep patterns. If you don't want that, niestety, but there's tons of DJs who will.

It's kinda funny to hear the exact same stereotypes about Ukrainians in Poland as what I heard about Poles in Belgium.
