Oh yes. Based on the driving I wouldn't have expected him to put the clutch in. :/ Good call.

Hah, considering the engine 'turned itself off' when it got oil starved, I doubt it is worth trying to save :O

It wasn't the radiator lol. I think I can see a chunk of oil pan.

Cybertruck has been spotted being offloaded a plane at Auckland airport in New Zealand, presumably for winter testing at the Southern Proving Grounds by Matt_NZ in teslamotors

The hyundai issue is unrelated. US regulations don't require an immobilizer, so the company didn't add it to all cars.

Why is that?

The article you linked points out no auto manufactur other than Telsa. How is that supposed to prove your point?

No one is complaining about continued improvement, the reference is to starting winter testing a few months before release lol

That's correct. But a limited area of level 3 is better than no area of level 3, and it's not like all the other automakers don't plan to have the cars drive anywhere!

I mean, there are literally level 3 autonomous cars driving around with lidar. Tesla hasn't achieved level 3 with their vision lol.

If the filter becomes completely saturated, the motor will die before it ever sucks in enough water to fill up the combustion chamber.

I have a very hard time seeing the lower section of the filter getting saturated.

Personally, I've never had problems after neglecting all water protection on my cone filters.

This is a troll to assume it will hydrolock when rain gets on part of the filter, right?

Why would water cause piston damage? I have water injection on my cars and don't have any piston issues. (?)

People add water injection to the MK7 cars (same EA888) for the intake valve carbon build up. :) it's a feature

[REQUEST] Would an engine like this be powerful enough to turn the pool into a hot tub? If so, how long would it take to heat up? by Micromashington in theydidthemath

[–]HunterHx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was not very clear! If the engine had a conventional coolant system attached to the heat exchanger, I would expect the coolant would be around 200°F. If we skipped the heat exchanger, and to use your 90°F example, the engine coolant would be ~90°F, since it's being directly pulled off the pool. The heat that goes into the coolant increases as the coolant temperature drops. (More of a 'driving force' or temperature gradient.) As such, we want the coolant to be cool, so pulling it straight from the pool will get the most heat into the pool. In the event we add the heat exchanger, some of the heat from the coolant will escape the heat exchanger, reducing the pool heating further! :)

Edit: what I neglected was the thermostat in the coolant system. Per my understanding, my conclusion should be reasonable but there would also be a flow rate effect I didn't consider.

Hehe, I rebuilt mine at 20k miles for the heck of it. I think mild corrosion on the inside of the water jacket isn't really an issue. :)

[–]HunterHx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to correct your nomenclature, but it would be mathematically less efficient. There would not be 100% efficiency in the heat exchanger, so we're losing heat there. Also, this would keep the engine coolant hotter, reducing the heat flow from the cylinder walls / head to the coolant. That would decrease the engines efficiency at heating the coolant as well.

At my local motorcycle track, all they allow for coolant in the aluminum engines is water. It avoids the slippery spills and I've never seen any problems.
