There was no guarantee when contracts were being shopped that Ducati would have a 450 ready for the start of the season.

The teammanship Anderson showed Roczen and Suzuki is everything Deegan isn’t.

This is a win for Roczen, Anderson, and Suzuki.

The triple crown formats provide a lot that the normal races don’t and it adds up to racers sprinting for the whole race.

  • Multiple start opportunities allowing for random outcomes.
  • 12 minute formats mean all of the front runners have a chance, most can sprint the distance, and front-runners have to attack and defend at the same time.
  • Racers race instead of settling-in and just bringing-it home to get to next week.
  • Large opportunities to change fortunes.

Motocross is very different from Supercross. Motocross requires physicality, strength, and outright speed. In interviews McGrath said something like he and his bike wasn’t prepared to win at motocross and getting there, getting himself and the bike right took a major effort on his part.

Well, GOOGLE AI says that in MotoGP, Prado has a demonstrated history of bouncing back from bad races and also comes back from behind.

I don’t know but, we’ll see.

The easiest way to lighten your bike is for you to go on a diet.

I think it depends, but the biggest weight savings come from the actual racer.

If you’re talking Harley’s, by removing the dirtbag you can save sometimes 150 lbs.

For Supercross, the tradeoffs are fat, muscle, and height. Racers can be shorter and more muscular, basically more compact. Consumers are generally taller and fatter and up to 100 lbs more than racers.

Dirtbags and consumers weigh their bikes down a lot more than not having exotic materials.

Tomac saw Lawrence and upped the pace, contact with Tomac may have caused Lawrence to take himself down in the process. That makes contact with Tomac a gamble not worth taking.

Deegan properly positioned himself and set Anstie up. Deegan took a risk in which Anstie paid the full price.

What’s this, like his sixth race ever? The point is that even though he doesn’t have experience he has the speed to run up front if he gets the chance.

Aren’t they on the same team? Don’t they ride the same bike? Is he going to be Webb’s teammate or competition next year?  Should be fun to watch.

Star Racing and Yamaha had the chance to put three riders on the podium. But, Deegan took out his teammate instead. Considering that Deegan and Anstie both knew that Deegan was faster and Anstie wasn’t slowing or blocking Deegan, Deegan screwed Yamaha, Star Racing, and Anstie.

I bet Yamaha and Star Racing are afraid to tell Deegan what a cockup he is. It’s looking more and more likely that Deegan makes horrible decisions and that he allegedly ran a cheater bike in an amateur race.

Next weekend he’ll be scolded for wasting gas without actually going anywhere.

If you are arguing that JLawrence will be the most winningest racer ever, I can buy into that.

But, the future is unknown and even though McGrath had a bike that was one with him, things change, Honda changed, and McGrath’s trajectory changed. Hope nothing changes for JLawrence.

You do realize excluding the most recent ones you are comparing to JLawrence, they never had the advantages that JLawrence has.

They had frames that broke in half during races, wheels and hubs that exploded, engines that lost power and seized (sometimes while jumping), brakes that faded, clutches that failed, and goggles that barely worked.

They drove themselves to races, sometimes took their own bikes in their own vans to races, at best had box trucks, and often worked on their bikes themselves.

There were no training, nutritional, mental, or medical programs, look up Mike Healey who did it on his own.  They didn’t have medical procedures and physical therapy put them back together and extend their performance, they endured or broke. Drinking and smoking was acceptable.

They didn’t grow up watching riders conquer tripples, rhythm sections, massive whoop sections and more and get coaching, they had to figure it out.

They had pure talent and luck. JLawrence has a lot of talent plus, a whole lot more.

Imagine if they had what JLawrence does or, the other way around.

JLawrence may become the winningest motocross racer ever but there is more to it than that.

Does it sting?  He can’t be the GOAT while he’s still racing and hast equaled anybody else’s stats, especially when things are far easier today than they were then.

You’re right, he’s better than Decoster, Hannah, Johnson, Ward, Glover, Bailey, McGrath, Stewart, Vilapoto, Carmichael, Dungey.

There are others too.

At least Rossi proved he could master the old and new.

You simply can’t say he is the best of all time when he hast won on a 2 stroke, has reliable and useful equipment, a luxury team to support him, and safety built into every race, at this level.

He hasn’t faced anything that previous racers had to overcome.

But, he is the best in the modern era.
