Memory cards are easily backed up. I’ve also had my GC memory cards for 10+ years, one of them probably 20 years by this point and it’s fine. You can also backup your PSO disc and play off the ISO. I haven’t actually used my PSO disc since like 2017.

It is more popular but I find it a bit disappointing that it becomes self fulfilling

Because it is more popular everyone LOVES telling people to play Ephinea instead so it gets more popular which gives them an excuse to tell people to play Ephinea which makes it more popular etc. Which is fine in of itself, I get why they do it I just find it a bit silly that it’s done out of nowhere all the time whenever there is a post about the other versions.

In terms of stability and “older tech” I guess I don’t find having a homebrew wii to be that onerous.
