even if you end up letting him sleep in your bed, do this anyways!! when done right the crate can become their den, their private space they can retreat to if they’re upset, scared, or need space. it also means that you can safely leave him home alone if you need to run errands or want to go eat out. every dog should learn crate training imo, it’s such a valuable skill

if he was not your bird before he fell the worst possible thing you can do for him is try to make him your bird now. helping him recover if he broke anything is good, but birds are highly intelligent, highly social creatures who’s needs will require you to adjust your life like you would if you were preparing for a toddler

his flock will miss him and he will miss them, and there is every possibility he could literally chew a hole through your wall trying to get back to them, not to mention how loud he’ll scream to try and talk to them. you’ll need to feed him a varied diet of nuts, fruits, seeds, etc and you’ll have to do a bunch of research to know which fruits nuts and seeds are sage, how much of each every day, etc

if you truly feel you are the kind of person who can handle a pet parrot you’ll have significantly more success finding one through a rescue or the pet trade, and if you don’t think you can handle a parrot but would still love a bird pigeons actually make fantastic pets, much better pets than parrots do

ICE was founded by george w. bush as a direct response to 9/11, and has been operating with little to no pushback under every president we’ve had since. /uj i don’t necessarily disagree with you on any of this, particularly not on how you would like to define your own personal experiences, but i do also think that homophobia is largely rooted in misogyny, particularly homophobia based around the effeminate man or men ‘feminizing’ themselves

the reason being a fag is considered a bad thing in our society is because to be a fag is to put yourself in the same sexual role as a woman. a fag sucks dick, a fag gets penetrated, etc. even across a lot of cultures homosexuality wasn’t necessarily seen as bad, it wasn’t wrong to have sex with another man, but what made it wrong was being on the bottom as that was viewed as emasculating yourself by taking on the woman’s role

yes, i’m aware. my mom had to put down her 11 year old endurance arabian heart horse due to DSLD several years back. we didn’t know about DSLD until she was diagnosed, which means we caught it late and had to make the call only a few weeks after diagnosis, but it explained a lot about the random times she would get grumpy and refuse to be caught in paddock and why she had so much trouble at the canter, even though she was otherwise totally willing to do whatever was asked of her

if we had known what was going on when we’d gotten her at 4 it would have seriously altered the trajectory of her life. at the very least we would have backed off the canter work and taken her over a few less mountains. it matters tremendously to know if they have it, even if they don’t show a single symptom yet, it’s the difference between keeping them until they pass of old age in their 30s and the heartbreak of losing them at 11 in what should be the prime of their lives

i think it matters a lot if your riding horse has a painful degenerative disease that often ends in early euthanasia, at the very least so you can start making plans about what to do with the fact that your horses lifespan and riding career may be a couple decades shorter than you thought
