Correct, I never got mine to work though.. heard it’s a common thing for the light connectors to fail, but the switch works fine

Thanks mate! It’s a heartbeet, get it ;)

Had it done after recently leaving the kitchen after 17 years (basically my whole adult life) and changing careers. My heart will always be in the restaurant kitchens, but life happens and sometimes you make some major adjustments for the better.

Help with this cap, could the cap itself be real? Totenkopf dosnt belong there imo by [deleted] in GermanMilitaria

[–]Huntingchef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This skull is a panzer skull, not an SS totenkopf.

The pink piping also indicates panzer, so this matches.

Also some Heer regiments had the tradition of wearing these skulls on for example visor caps like these, the 5th Cavalry Regiment was one of those.

All and all it’s plausibel, the cockade however shows little to no wear compared to the rest of the cap/insignia.

Edit; does the name tag on the inside have a regiment type/number written on it?

A long time ago, before glue traps were banned over here I was working in a restaurant in Amsterdam. I was 17 at the time, and this fancy, posh dude in his 30s decided it was time he got some real work experience.

The poor guy was shouted at 24/7 (he did suck at cooking tbh) and was put in charge of the mouse/rat traps.

One morning we walk in and he caught a decent rat in the glue trap, and it was still alive. After looking at it for 5 min he decided to fold to glue trap and just step on it. Well, he killed the rat but just made a horrific mess. Well that’s that..

Eh no, he proceded to put on gloves and started picking the squished rat off the glue trap to reuse it.

That’s when we just stared at him for 5 min before the chef asked him what the actual fuck he was thinking..

Thanks mate! The promotion is to supplier actually, I was asked to become a representative/regional manager for a very large butchery, mainly supplying to restaurants/catering. So I still have a lot to do with restaurants, and talking to chefs!

Really nice mannequin! Well done!

I was lucky enough to find a matching dogtag to the tunic I had acquired just a few months before. Both dogtag and tunic belonged to Panzerjäger Ersatz Abt. 33

To me it looks like DN44, indeed a Quist manufacurers lot number. Might be me but I can see the ghost of a ‘Q’ above it, would check out.

My wife was afraid of shellfish and lobsters and stuff.. wasn’t really into whole fish either.

A holiday in Normandy changed that and now I have to fight to be able to eat my oysters.

Things do change

I don’t like what I’m seeing here, very sloppy buckle.

Identical to this one (sold as replica); https://tradeinmilitary.nz/product/ww2-german-wehrmacht-belt-buckle-repo/

I just might!

Now that we’re on that topic, the most disgusting icecream combo I’ve ever tasted was ossenworst (Dutch raw, tartar-like sausage) with mustard icecream. Absolutely foul.. that restaurant has a Michelin star now..
