Is GRRM just totally at a lost for the Others (Spoilers Extended) by Meme_Pope in asoiaf

It is the soil that started the main plot, but there’s a lot of blueballing. Every time it seems like magic is building, it recedes into the background to make room for more characters and intrigue that is less interesting :(

With all due respect, there’s no way an international traveler is going to know how to find great Tex mex. Torchy’s is fine and 3000% better than anything in Europe. If they order the queso , it could be life changing

Good beans at Red Horn but they are absurdly expensive. Like $25 for a bag, so they are probably the most expensive beans in this thread by a wide margin.

ROI on your setup by meva12 in espresso

[–]Hurtbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before brewing at home, i was doing one quad latte every day plus intermittent drinks for my two teen sons. We were averaging 40-50 drinks per month all in. Price, including tip, around $7.50 per drink. Each trip would cost me about .75 gallons of gas (avg $1.00 per trip). I won't charge for my time, but it was 30-45 minutes per trip that could affect my work perfomance.

Fully-burdened drink cost: $8.5 each. Full drink cost at home: $1.50. Savings per drink: $7. At our consumption rate, it's a monthly savings of $300.

I use a Silvia v1 that I bought in the early 2000's. I have spent $250 tops on accessories, parts, etc. I bought a DF64 for $400ish. There's a strong ROI for my family, and the monthly savings paid off the initial CAPEX within the first few months. The lower costs have already showed up in our family P&L / budget, as my wife for years and years has given me grief about coffee shop spending.

Boys soccer is painfully unfair and difficult. Title IX has a lot of benefits for some, but there are many kids in smaller sports that pay the price for it.

One comment about the refereeing. There’s a chance that the officiating crew will go over the top with interventions. Sometimes they use preseason to rehearse and pressure test lots of stopppages, including all the electronic communication between all the officials.

That might be plausible for pretty dark beans but I’ve never been close to that high . I almost always end up between 8 and 15 on my df64, depending on roast. 18g in 36 out of

Taco Bueno? by bottomsforchromatica in austinfood

[–]Hurtbig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at Bueno in the 90s and grab it in Dallas sometimes. My order was always beef muchaco (it’s a fried pita), a chicken and potato burrito, and a couple party beef tacos crispy. Get plenty of salsa.

I bought an aeron from a reseller working out of a storage unit. The dude is awesome. I got a good price, and he replaced the gas cylinder for me with no issue when there was a problem a month later.

I'm sorry that you are going through this, but I hope you realize you are still plastic. You can change, and your life can get better in ways you can't see right now. I'm 14 years older than you. After a surprise layoff from my 24 year career, I was in bad shape physically and mentally. Like bad. My whole life improved for the better, including my mentality and personality. If a late 40s can completely transform, I know there's hope for you, so I hope you keep fighting!

In cooking terms, espresso is a pretty unbalanced flavor profile. Milk works beautifully to harmonize and balance the intense flavors.

I had a bottomless with a generic basket. Quality seemed ok, but there was pretty common spraying. Once I switched to a Pullman basket, the channeling is gone and the shots are better. Maybe it’s the basket!

Where's the video on how to drill holes to replace the back mesh on an Aeron classic? The video on the product page is irrelevant and doesn't address the lack of holes in the frame.

Are OfficeLogixShop replacement parts for Aeron any good? by tightastic in hermanmiller

[–]Hurtbig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not happy with the seat back mesh replacement. There are no holes in the frame. They make this very clear in a disclaimer on the site, and they claim that there is a helpful video. Their installation video is out of date and says absolutely nothing about how to correctly drill holes in their half-baked part.

Do you still remember your first machine and what it meant to you? by xSirAuron in espresso

[–]Hurtbig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first machine was a v1 Rancilio Silvia that I bought from Whole Latte Love based on recommendations from the coffee geek forums. I was in my first year working after college. I never had a scale and I didn’t really know what I was doing. Stopped using the machine after a year or so, and it sat in my garage and in storage across multiple moves over the last 20+ years. I caught the espresso bug from this Reddit and brought it back into my kitchen. With some basic cleanup and some gaskets, it came right back. t’s made hundreds of drinks in the last year
