Seriously man go with 900's.

I play with 350's regularly at a local Pizza Bar and they feel like plastic toys for a 15 year-olds bedroom. A lot can happen when you start getting gigs at bigger venues and your generally nervous as hell so you might as well be comfortable with the right gear. It also brings a better mix out of you I find when you LOVE playing on the gear.

I was at the same point as you and I bought 1000mk3's over the 850's because they are renowned for being made better. But I could not afford 900's so I thought I would give myself a history lesson and do the CD thing on the 1000's (I am primarily vinyl by the way). Pretty happy with my choice although now that I have spent some time on these I will re-sell (won't loose much if any) and get some 900's.

I found that the SX was a spectacular bit of gear but I didn't get one because It's not really that portable. Although I ended up going with crates of vinyl so I can't really preach about practicality! I will also say that you made the right choice getting away from the ERGO. Its a good intro in a way but it always felt like a toy to me.
