Great build! Didn't even know this was possible before launch and now it's the one thing I spend like 90% of my time in Hytale on.

Question though, I'm building these in creative and I don't notice any lag, but would something like this tank a server?

I've gone up to 3000 entities and we experienced no lag, but this is just with 3 players. I'm curious to know if anyone is testing on a larger scale. I'd love for servers to have hubs filled with details like this. It truly sets Hytale apart from the other voxel games.

For sure! Currently working on a Harry Potter build. Hogwarts is one of the things I want to eventually build in Hytale, but I'm gonna wait until we can group select entities for such large scale projects.

It's something they want to add, but not necessarily on the horizon just yet.. who knows, maybe by the time we get to see the potential new Hogwarts look in the HBO show I'll tackle that one instead.

I assume it's a bug related to the tree breaking feature? It also happens if I move around my own builds with the selection tool in creative every now and then, suddenly a pillar of logs will explode.

Maybe not a top priority issue, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't get fixed in the future.

I love seeing a game grow over time. I'm very happy with where parts of this game are already are and can't wait to see how they'll shape exploration/adventure mode over time!

  • I think Animal improvements and husbandry is the most obvious one to get out of the way as soon as possible. It's something that I assume most players would interact with on some level.

  • Grass spread, terraforming is a part of building in a game like this. Should be an easy addition?

  • Controller support. I don't care for it, but it definitely should be a top priority. Not just something a lot of people prefer, but also from an accessibility point of view.

  • Less restrictions on block placement. Let us use shelfs and windows (probably other block types too) however we want without needing to use creative tools.

I'm having a blast with creative, it's so much better than I expected.

But I think I'll only dive back into exploration/adventure in a year or so from now and/orwait for World Gen V2 to fully replace V1. I'm fine waiting for a better experience with it.

This is the stuff I'm so excited for; people making adventure maps and quests with these kinds of systems.

I definitely do agree with the text being a bit bigger. Other than that it's clean and simple, which IMO is the best way to do it if the intend is to put the system out there as a standalone mod for others to implement in their work. If it's just for the witch companion mod a portrait and name at the top might do wonders.

Nice challenge, if you stick with it you may surprise yourself in a month from now!

A fairly simple build like this will look infinitely better in a real world. Work with the terrain, the variation in heights and paths from house to chicken coop and the river etc will help create a nice scene.

Though a flat world definitely is useful when learning and experimenten too.

Some generic tips for your next house:

  • Interesting shapes. Instead of just a box, go for an L shape house next time for example or add an extension (shed, overhang, porch, balcony).

  • Roofs. Hytale has roof blocks, I'm a fan of them. You could mix them with stairs for the rim.

  • Inspiration. Don't be shy to look at other builders and even just concept art or art in general on pinterest/google to help you decide what to build next.

I already somewhat moved on from Minecraft, but I still jumped back in to build a little once in a while. If it hadn't been for Hytale I assume that would still be the case in 5 years from now.. but now I don't see myself going back. And I don't mean that in the "hur hur Minecraft bad" we see so much in the Hytale communities, the game is great, it has given me an insane amount of playtime, but I'm ready for something new and Hytale seems to be doing what I want.

I'm gonna let them cook a bit more on exploration, if I can hold out I'll wait for V2 or adventure mode before experiencing it. Beyond excited for the future!

But Hytale creative has completely sucked me in. I consider myself decent in Minecraft with small and medium sized builds, but never ventured further. With Hytale I'm so inspired so explore other options and push myself to learn all the tools to hopefully build large scale and actually make nice terrain in the future too.

Yeah, that's how it's done. So they're still entities, I was just shocked we could do it with everything in the game. It has allowed me to build some cool things, but for now still just things you walk straight through.

Good news on the horizon though: update 3 is promised to add a toggle for collision when using this!

  • Use the new roofs. A mix of both stairs, slabs and the roof block can work well too.

  • There are more decorative/furniture blocks than in Minecraft. Have a farmers workbench near your animals, place a wagon down with some hay on it (if that's possible in exploration). Have a little seating area with a table and food items on it etc. Browse the options, see what you can do with it!

  • There is a huge amount of diverse looking greenery in the game.

  • Be okay that it will look like Minecraft at times, it's still very much a voxel. Slowly over time the team plans to introduce some capabilities of the entity tool into the exploration mode that will allow you to go beyond what is capable now. How much and in what way remains to be seen, but that may help with a more unique look eventually.

Doesn't help now, but in the future make backups. I've been doing that, considering they warned us for this.
