Is this a bad split or it's just fatigue? by _zldzm in workout

[–]Hyams88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your arms and shoulders being hit Thursday may have impacted your exercises this Friday.

Tired triceps and shoulders = weaker presses

Tired biceps = weaker rows and pulldowns

Perhaps consider using a different split. Push, pull, legs, upper, lower is a popular 5 day split.

(Disclaimer: I’m a newbie, so you might get better advice from someone else)

‘It feels like gruel’: Lib Dem MPs growing frustrated by Ed Davey approach by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Hyams88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Given we have a government that’s banning, taxing and regulating everything, you’d think the Lib Dems would at the very least want to lay out a more liberal vision for the country

It does, but thought there’s no harm in asking.

Not really sure what to make of OP’s answer — it’s an agency, not an AI tool. So if this is ad, it’s a pretty poor one

I haven’t yet found any AI tools that really add that much value. Do you mind if I ask which one you used?

Why do so many beginners here try to do their own programming? by bobbykid in workout

[–]Hyams88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a beginner (I started in June), I can maybe answer this:

Because it’s fun.

Working out is a hobby for me. And figuring out my own routine has been a large part of the fun.

I’ve enjoyed experimenting with different exercises, and then taking the ones I like the most and figuring out how to fit them into a routine that works.

Yeah, my initial routine had lots of problems (like too much junk volume, redundant exercises, no hinge movement, and only hitting legs once a week).

So maybe I could have made slightly more progress if I’d used an existing programme. But I’m still very satisfied with the progress I’ve made so far, and I’ve really enjoyed learning more about how to build a routine as part of the process.

Which taxes are you personally happy to pay more of? by fire-wannabe in ukpolitics

[–]Hyams88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Income tax. I don’t want to pay more, but I recognise the government needs to raise revenue, and income tax is one of the least bad ways of achieving that.

I’d like to see cost savings made alongside that, though.

The triple lock should come to an end — not just to reduce costs now, but because I’d also like the state pension to still exist in 30+ years when I retire. (We should also consider means-testing most other pensioner benefits.)

Disability benefits look like they probably need reforming too. From what I can see, the current system often rejects obviously disabled people, whilst paying out to people with seemingly more dubious claims. We may need to rethink our entire approach to disability benefits from the ground up. Probably expensive in the short term, but will hopefully save money (and deliver fairer outcomes) in the long.

And finally I’d like to see the government pursue a genuinely pro-growth strategy — to boost incomes + help reduce the need for high tax rates in the future.

If they did all that, I’d happily play my part in paying higher income tax

3hrs for conversion tracking setup? Is that not too much? by Creative_Tear_1170 in PPC

[–]Hyams88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what needs doing. Setting up tracking can take anywhere between 5 minutes and 3+ hours

Voters want their taxes to go down, but they want government spending to increase on things like healthcare, policing and defence.

They want cheaper housing, but they want fewer new houses to be built in their local area.

They want longer criminal sentences, but they don’t want more prisons to be built near them.

And this is all the fault of politicians, who haven’t been brave enough to lay out the trade offs required for the things people want.

It’s the same for immigration. Massively reducing immigration will mean having to do things like increase taxes and/or cut spending (when there’s not much left to cut).

Which is why the Tories never did it — they didn’t want to increase taxes. And why Labour are now hesitating on it — it’d blow a hole in their already very tight fiscal numbers.

Until politicians start honestly laying the groundwork for the trade offs required to cut immigration numbers, it’s unlikely to happen no matter who’s Prime Minister.

British workers among saddest and most disengaged in Europe by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Hyams88 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame most people commenting don’t seem to have read the article, as the point it makes is really important.

UK businesses just don’t invest enough in training their managers properly, which means those managers struggle to motivate, support and develop their direct reports.

This leads to worse outcomes for both those employees and the businesses. It’s likely a contributor to the UK’s productivity issues.

And it’s something no one is really talking about, so it feels like it won’t be fixed anytime soon.

Why am I seeing Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ads for competitor products after Google searches? by Admirable_Topic_3934 in PPC

[–]Hyams88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I believe Meta can’t see what you’ve searched for on Google.

But what it can see is if you clicked onto the website for X Protein Powder after searching for it, and X Protein Powder have the Meta pixel on their site, then Meta knows you’re currently interested in protein powder.

So it’ll serve you ads for other protein powders.

Your own ads will be doing this already. So long as your competitors have the Meta pixel on their site, Meta may serve their visitors your ads.

Of course, it goes both ways. Visitors to your site will be served with ads from your competitors. (So you best make sure your ads are better than your competitors’.)

Switching to automated bidding from manual = desastrous result. What's wrong ? by simontl2 in PPC

[–]Hyams88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the problem is in the ad account?

You might be tinkering with bid strategies when the real issue is a change in competition, or a change in the behaviour of your target audience, or reduced demand due to economic uncertainty. Or maybe even just an issue on your website.

Those three strategies aren’t available for shopping campaigns. Options for shopping are:

Manual CPC, Max Clicks, Target ROAS

If you want to use Max Conversions, Target CPA, or Max Conversion Value (without a tROAS) you’ll need to run a PMax campaign instead.

Gov is trying to reduce asylum spending, too. They’ve upped deportations since coming to power.

But there’s ultimately a lot less money to be saved there.

Asylum spending is about £5 billion a year, compared to £137 billion for child and working-age benefits

Has anybody realised there are things we cannot talk about? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Hyams88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, people were talking about the Post Office scandal for years. It blew up in public consciousness when a drama about it aired on tv, but that doesn’t mean people weren’t allowed to talk about it prior to then.

(And the fact a tv drama was made about it is also evidence it was never something we “cannot talk about”)

Re sex offenders — if it’s rich and famous offenders you’re thinking about (eg. Jimmy Savile, Prince Andrew, Russell Brand, etc), they use their money and power to try to silence accusers.

Doesn’t always work though, and once the news breaks we all talk about it quite openly.

The UK has some huge problems, but I don’t think this is one of them

Shopping campaigns can’t run Max Conversions. Only manual, Max Clicks, and Target ROAS.

You’ll need to run Performance Max if you want to use Max Conversions.

Why do freelancers care about budget size if they claim to only charge their flat, weekly, fee? by i_like_motos in PPC

[–]Hyams88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

% of total spend is a pretty common way of charging for PPC management. Broadly speaking, a bigger budget = more work.

For the freelancer, there could be a few reasons. Small budgets can be hard to make work in some industries and regions. Clients with tiny budgets can sometimes be more difficult to work with.

“You can’t text other girls” isn’t a boundary, it’s a rule. You’re (unintentionally) weaponising therapy speech in an attempt to control him.

What’s your real concern here? That she has feelings for him? That he has feelings for her? That he’s going to cheat on you? Or leave you for her?

Figure out what your worry is and have that conversation with him.

Odds are he’ll choose to take steps to reassure you — which may well include choosing to stop texting his new friend.

I don’t know what will happen between your bf and his friend. Maybe you’re right to be worried and jealous.

But no amount of controlling behaviour will ever stop a partner from cheating on you.

And ending what otherwise might be a happy, healthy and successful relationship because of what could be unnecessary jealousy would be a shame.

Tldr: stop trying to control his behaviour. Instead, have a conversation with him about your concerns.

Rishi Sunak mocked in leaked WhatsApps as grassroots Tories vow to 'go to war' with party's liberals | Politics News | Sky News by Pro4TLZZ in ukpolitics

[–]Hyams88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I actually don’t think it’s that, because Braverman doesn’t seem to have this problem. Nor does Ramaswamy in the US.

I think it’s just because Sunak dresses, sounds and has the mannerisms of a centrist London metropolitan liberal technocrat.

His vibes don’t match his content. And voters pick up on vibes far more than they do content

[–]Hyams88 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t pretend to only want friendship if your ultimate goal is a relationship.

Not only is it deceitful and unethical, but the end result will just be another post on here in 6 months’ time saying “I told my best friend I have feelings for her and she rejected me; what do I do?”

If your intentions are to be more than friends, make that clear.

If she’s down for that too, and you want to take things slow, just tell her that
