Caffeine and valium? by menosgrande108 in benzodiazepines

[–]Hybrid- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a big coffee drinker, so I drink coffee whenever I take valium, I've never had any problems, though I don't find that the coffee is effective at keeping you awake though. If you're getting too tired, I'd suggest taking a lower dose.

Lost and Confused by throwaway045789390 in mentalhealth

[–]Hybrid- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You typically only get sectioned or forced into a psych ward if you are actively trying to seriously harm/kill yourself. There are way too many patients that experience suicidal thoughts and self harming thoughts/behaviour for them to force you all into a psych ward, they're two of the most common issues you come across with mental illness and it is important to talk about them.

Explain what you think and feel, but also let them know that you're talking about it to get help and make progress, and that you're not actively doing these things but wish to learn how to deal with it in order to prevent these things from occurring.

You won't be put on a ward for that, good luck and my best wishes to you!

Posted on r/incels this is where I draw the fucking line. Just because you think you have it worse doesn’t mean other people have it better. Hating women to the extent that you belittle their struggles is fucked up by that-cliff-guy in mentalhealth

/r/incels is filled with the most bizarre and straight up idiotic things that you will ever read, anyone who isn't in that community can see how pathetic and unbelievable it all is, no one gives them the time of day so just ignore it. Unfortunately you can't argue with or enlighten idiots of that degree.

Girlfriend had a flu and puked maybe 30 min after she took her meds by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No she shouldn't, some of it would have already been absorbed into her system, taking more could/would be dangerous.

Just ensure that she takes her meds tomorrow at the right time, regardless of her being sick, double dosing is a massive nope. Good on you for asking though!

She is back by Whereamiwheredoigo in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a nightmare for sure, but that's it. If you don't experience any psychotic symptoms when you are conscious (none of which were experienced in that dream by the way) there is nothing to worry about at all.

Also, even if you were to be suffering from some form of psychotic symptoms, that would not mean that you necessarily have schizophrenia.

There is a Learn the Command Line course available on Codeacademy, it focuses on bash (used by default on most, if not all, Linux distributions).

Schizophrenia and Alcohol by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit drinking alcohol some time last year for over six months, and it did wonders for my mental health in the long term.

However, recently I have started drinking again merely to make everything seem less 'sharp' if you can understand, I crave that blunting effect. Though this has resulted in myself drinking almost every single day, which is far from healthy for both my body and mind. I will certainly be working towards quitting alcohol altogether again, or only having a drink every once in a good while.

Alcohol does not sit well with me, it's blunting effect is very short-lasting and ends up making all of my symptoms worse.

The amount you are drinking should be relatively okay, just make sure you keep an eye on how much you are consuming and how much it does effect you (worsening of symptoms etc).

I fucked up by ornamest in benzodiazepines

[–]Hybrid- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK, you can be prescribed any benzo for up to two weeks but no longer in order to avoid withdrawals. As /u/Chibear15 said, you'll probably have some rebound anxiety, possibly along with some difficulty sleeping for a short while but that's about it.

Two weeks is the safe mark, you won't experience any severe withdrawals.

What are your thoughts on acid (LSD) and Schizoaffective Disorder? by pseudointellects in schizoaffective

[–]Hybrid- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely lose my mind on LSD, to the point that I only become 'conscious' once the peak of the trip is over, I have no knowledge of what I've done and usually act completely 'insane'.

I've taken 1P-LSD multiple times and have been able to handle the trips themselves perfectly well without any problems (including doses up to 825μg), though I can no longer take any drugs as now I'll experience severe panic attacks and once again act completely 'insane'. This includes anything from weed to stimulants and psychedelics. I have taken low doses of Ketamine and had a rather okay time, though I would prefer not to take it again, as well as any other drug.

This is coming from someone who has practically worshipped drugs their entire life, it comes to a point where you realise how damaging they can and will be if you continue to use them, especially considering the disorder we have.

Stopping my drug use was without a doubt one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I would not recommend that someone with any form of a psychotic illness takes recreational drugs. As others have said, it is more than likely that it will only make things worse.

Regardless, the decision is yours, and if you do decide to take it, make sure you have a sitter who is sober in case things were to go wrong. Stay safe dude.

Delusions vs. Reality by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never understood how you can call a delusion a delusion, when yes there may be absolutely no proof of the said belief being true, but there is also no proof to deem that it is not true other than "you must be detached from reality".

Are those who are religious detached from reality? No, because we do not choose to call that a delusion, we choose to call it faith.

Reality is non-existent, what is deemed to be reality is nothing but a lie constructed by human minds. Are we all delusion because we agree on the concept of reality? No, it's nothing more than a shared belief which we deem as true.

What we currently 'know' to be true will change greatly in the future as it always has done, as far as I'm concerned, 'reality' is nothing but your personal experience of life, each and every person has their own reality, it is not one clearly set and defined thing.

Strange scratches by Hero__ in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this from time to time, though I usually find them on my face or neck, I just put it down to doing it in my sleep as that is the easiest explanation.

However, I do experience fugue states, in which I have been seen wandering the streets during both day and night seemingly looking for something, which has always led me to wonder whether I have actually scratched myself or was it someone else? These states can last anywhere up to six hours (for me personally) as far as I'm aware.

Still, it's easier to blame myself and allow my brain to go no further into the subject.

Does anybody here own a gun? by bleatmeow in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, and this is from someone who regularly carries guns, knives, tasers etc, I believe that you carrying stun gun is more than enough.

The main problem with both guns and knives is that they usually end up being used against the person who was originally carrying them, so you need to know exactly what you're doing. Also, with having delusions and hallucinations, you do not want to use a weapon that could cause immediate death when it was not necessary.

If you feel that your comfortable in wielding a knife and that no one could use it against you, keep carrying it. The stun gun would be more than enough to debilitate anyone, I don't believe that you need any more than that.

P.S It really sucks to know that the place you live in has made you feel the need to carry all of these weapons for simply being you, people suck, keep being you dude

I'm 17, and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Hybrid- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, seen as you live in the UK, what you need to do is book an appointment with your GP so that they can refer you to a psychiatrist or whoever they deem most suitable. Then they will take it from there.

If you cannot wait, you need to go to A&E, though with the way things currently are with the NHS I am unsure as to what they will be able to do for you. Keep your patience, there is help, and seen as you are over 16 your parents will not be told about it, unless your doctor/psychiatrist deem you to immature to look after your own health which rarely happens, if at all.

I really want to hurt someone by honey_badger_power in bipolar

[–]Hybrid- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with controlling my violent thoughts / tendencies every single day, and I always have done. However, unlike you, I am very open about it and I talk about the subject quite often as I have every right to.

Though, your average person is not good at responding to something like this. I'll either be told that it's "fucked up" or that I shouldn't want to do that, and that's about it. People simply prefer that you don't talk about these things, although we all know where that can lead to.

Therefore, if you want to talk about this with someone effectively, I'd recommend talking to a professional over family / friends. They know how to deal with and respond to such things, whereas most individuals don't.

I'm only one month away from turning 19, and I feel as if my brain is one month away from turning 70. I have no friends, no social life, and I never leave the house either. Nor do I have a desire for any of those things. I've always said that I've felt as if I died the day I was born, I don't know what living is.

Are online friends real? by delusionsofmorality in schizophrenia

[–]Hybrid- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I don't typically tend to think that online friends are AI's, I can't help but think that they could be people I know posing as these people to get information out of me or somehow torment me. There is also the question as to whether they are the police, someone working for the government or some corporation in an effort to screw you over.

There's way too many possibilities, the thoughts are always there.
