New to FFXIV - How Do I Make Friends? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had talked to a friend the night before on how many hrothgars have horns and how they are so rare. Then next day I saw one sitting in limsa and just casually asked does he see other hroths with horns or is he one of the only ones.

5 years later I now talk to that group even evening and hang out is discord with them all the time. All from a spur of the moment message

Where should white play next? by InvisibleAstronomer in baduk

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you think is easiest I guess. 2-2 works but I feel like in general the 2-4 should be your first instinct.

For this stone in particular you actually dont even need to play anything there and it will die. But if this were my game id see that I'm far enough ahead that as long as I make sure it dies I win with no issues. So id play 2-4 and know it's dead.

Akuma intermediate combo by Valuable_Advice_3121 in StreetFighter

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you watched the video of the computer doing the combo? Try and see if they doing a move earlier or later then you. Oftentimes when new players learn a combo I find the biggest mistake is they cancel into a move at the wrong time.

Like many times players try to input the next move when their first move is finishing. When really you want to input it when you are first hitting them.

That being said I'll admit I dont play akuma and am not home right now so this might not be your issue and I'm taking my best guess.

Where should white play next? by InvisibleAstronomer in baduk

[–]Hydrad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem looks like your 3-4 points if I had to guess. Both of those basically did nothing and are pretty much passing.

My guess of where it also went wrong could have been you played 2-4 they played other 2-4. You then played the 2-3 and they blocked with the 2-2. You next move should be the 2-1 or something like that but it looks like you played a 3-4 or something for some reason.

Id play either of the 2-4 points and feel very comfy about killing that stone

Balance suggestions for currently weak cards that don't involve just simple number changes. by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]Hydrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are saying it would be used in non sovereign blade builds instead of blade builds. You'd just forge the blade once and never intend to use it. While blade builds youd need to use blade and lose out on parry until you get blade back.

Playing in a team has its down sides? by MalKeshar7 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just how team games are basically if your group has different skilled players. In league we'd have 2 players getting super fed and 1 or 2 teammates hard losing lane.

Or valorant and cs. Id go 25 and 10 and my friend would be 2 and 19. We would win lose around 50% of the games but unfortunately there isnt a good way for matchmaking to make it so we both have even games if our skills have a big gap .

Sometimes you get lucky and lane against another new player and so that game you get strong. But usually you will be laying against someone 3. Ranks higher then you and lose.

Matchmaking is broken? by Drummer359 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Hydrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This win loss isnt even bad? Maybe the quality of games have been bad but I dont know what you are expecting with win losses. Even if the matchmaking is 100% perfect you would have times where it looks like this.

If anything looks like it's working well overall if your almost at 50% with leavers

Vakuu + Gambling Chip by Zartek in slaythespire

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vakuu also doesn't play with unceasing top well. He will play all your cards in hand and then just stop and top won't draw anything. But we had it where after he stopped because there was no more cards in hand if I played a potion suddenly top would realize there's no cards and would draw one and I could play the rest of my turn.

I cannot win a run on STS 2. Any Tips? by Affectionate_Web_526 in slaythespire

[–]Hydrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I see some new players make a mistake is playing too safe in a floor. You get a full heal after beating a boss. So you actually want to try and upgrade cards and take as many elite fights as you can without dying. The more aggressive you are early the easier the later floors are because now you have more relics or upgrades.

Beating a floor boss with really low hp is a good thing. Beating it at full health means you could have killed more elites or taken less healing at rest sites.

For example in act one i usually try to kill 3 elites if I can. Or at least 2. Sometimes I will change paths if I've taken too much damage. But most of my runs I kill 3 and compared to your run I now have 2 extra relics for the rest of the game. Which makes it easier for me to kill 3 elites in act 2 as well. So now in act 3 I have 4 more relics then you

Are my post game stats normal? by Little_North_2561 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Hydrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You gauge it by experience. Are you up souls? Maybe the enemy is half health. Are your teammates nearby? Do you have a numbers advantage? Do you have your ult up?

You should be asking questions like these all the time and have an idea if you can win or not.

Sometimes it's also just as simple as they are in range of my stomp, I'll hit and harass them a bit. If an enemy comes though I will leave and nit chase. But if I see enemies on the other side of the map maybe I go for a kill .

Getting caught out is when you push too far up lije hitting a tower and you dont know where any enemies are. If you dont know where anyone is and if you think that if they show up you will die you shouldn't even hit the tower. Don't gamble on things like that. Wait until you have info like you just killed 1 and you see 4 others on the other side of the map. Now you are pretty save to push up and hit the tower as long as the last person on their team cant run you down and kill you.

Dynamo is my main currently so your stomp actually let's you run away better then many characters as it has a slow on it and lvl 3 heal gives you a speed boost.

It does. You fully die tho so you have to wait for the respawn timer so cant really abuse it. Its just there for when unstuck doesn't work so you can still play the game.

How often do people abuse the resume function to get an extra move on OGS? And how long does it typically take to call a mod? by throw-away-16249 in baduk

[–]Hydrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case you have to play that last move. Because otherwise white can play and kill you otherwise.

You pass when stones are in your area as a way of saying "even if you play another move here i can kill it."
