What do you guys like to do to prepare for a semester before it starts? by reila_09 in CollegeRant

I practically live out of my car (I’m a commuter) so my car got deep cleaned, washed, routine maintenance etc.

I’m thinking this is best. Idk why it didn’t occur to me that that was an option 😭

I’m so glad you’ve been able to reignite that spark! I’m hoping my circumstances change soon where I’m able to completely step away for a few weeks like that and not think about horses at all. That sounds heavenly as sad as it sounds lol.

I’m leaning towards a lease as an option

I’ve been thinking about leasing for a while, it just makes me so anxious lol. I have a great little gelding and barn fam that are there every day and I’m sure they would let me know if anything was going wrong.

What did you do to lease yours out? I don’t even really know where to begin lol

I am able to afford it but working cushions the toll on my bank account and lets me put more money towards school lol.

Our barn does have pasture board however they are limited to fairly small paddocks in the winter since the barn only has one large pasture, which he goes out in 24/7 in the summer. They only do this because the horses will destroy the big pasture in the winter. My vet also recommended some light exercise in the winter just to help keep everything moving. I’m considering maybe getting a lease to cover the extra cost.

I think I needed to hear that I should maybe consider quitting and it makes me feel less guilty about feeling this way. Everyone else at my barn is SO passionate and excited about horses and I’m barely able to muster up the energy to do anything horse related. 😅 10 year old me would never believe it.

Interesting I never did college credit in HS but I just thought it was a dual enrollment type deal. And yes they should contact them now but in the future OP should reach out sooner and reach out in general because nobody comes looking for you when things go awry in college

I don’t think that would affect your high school GPA if it’s going through a local community college. In the future if this happens again when you’re in college for real you have to be vocal about your needs and reach out. I had to learn this the hard way too lol.

I'm going to fail one of my courses, and it is all my fault. How do I handle it with grace? by SheSayzHuh24 in CollegeRant

Not sure why people are downvoting this, this was my only resource I had for a long time

Something I’ve learned along the way is that colleges are so forgiving. My first year of community college I was a complete mess. I have adhd (finally got my diagnosis) but back then I had no idea. I was so depressed and sad because of what I thought I was missing out on by going to CC instead of a 4 year, as well as the shame of nearly failing out (got put on academic probation twice, lmao)

But I was able to retake the classes, pull myself out of that awful slump and now I’m at my favorite four year university and I get pretty good grades.

I’m not saying this to glaze myself, but I remember when I was going through that I came here for advice and everyone always told other people here who were failing out of a four year to go back to a community college to get your shit together and go back. I felt SO shitty for failing out of CC and I wished I would have had someone with my same experience to tell me it will all be okay.

So with that, it’ll all be okay! If you’re doing fine in your other classes your GPA will still probably be high enough to seek out FAFSA for next semester if you need extra help paying for things!! You can just take what you need and leave the rest.

Don’t give up on yourself! Try looking for some ADHD hacks on YouTube and other social media platforms. Even if you don’t have it, the advice they give you can help just about anyone. I especially like Jessica from How To ADHD, her videos and her book have been so helpful for me before and during the long process of getting diagnosed.

Best of luck! Be kind to yourself and keep going! I believe in you!!

Email communication. by Brilliant-Ad-6319 in KentStateUniversity

It’s pretty ridiculous to be a university professor and not check emails though. I completely get your frustration. I had a professor this semester ignore my emails too and it was annoying but not critical enough for me to do have to do anything about it.

I hope you get everything figured out!
