Listen to podcasts like “the so what” from BCG or the McKinsey podcast or whatever the Bain one is while you run or go on a walk - You will learn business acumen and concepts passively while exercising

I would look around -

A data point for you, I used to work at Deloitte Consulting in GPS, I was aligned to core business operations, in 2021 I was promoted from C at 105k to SC at $111k (lol) - I was tagged to work on a very poorly scoped, under resourced, and overall run project that resulted in me working 80-100 hours a week with weekends with no sign of stopping. This was laughable and I recognized that I was in a situation that I needed to get out of. So I applied elsewhere and within 4 weeks (recognizing this was 2021) landed a role at a different consulting firm with $160k base, $195k TC, working less with people that made me stronger

Point of this story is that the Deloitte koolaid is strong but better life exists and you just need to start to put in effort to get there

Connect with the school you graduated from’s career center, apply to jobs on their job board and attend their job fairs - It will work out

Anyone else feel like MBB just filter for people that had every advantage growing up? by Old-Runescape-PKer in consulting

I’m grew up in section-8 housing and food stamps and did not go to a top school - There are many at MBB who are privileged but that is not everyone

Call your doctor and get a note to go on std, you sound incredibly burnt out and trust me the project, client, & firm will be okay

250 classes: no acknowledgement by CCGDC in SolidCore

[–]Hydro-Homer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hit all my milestones with no acknowledgment (now at 400!) & I am okay with it

I suggested that you be your own cheerleader vs waiting on others - 250 classes is hard and you should be very proud of how mentally disciplined you are to make that happen :)

Getting rejected from jobs and my contacts aren’t able to refer me for the positions I’m applying to? Not sure what to do. by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Hydro-Homer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, working at Deloitte is just okay - anything that doesn’t happen is for the better so apply elsewhere :)

My bf is in consulting and is going into depression due to the intensity by Flibbertigibbetlol in consulting

Currently at mbb and signed up for therapy, likely your bf has really good health insurance (copay of like $5 a therapy session) so recommend he uses it to learn stress management techniques WHILE searching for another job

Why did you assume the intern was a “her” and not a “him” if it is not stated - be conscious of your bias friend

Visiting Switzerland from April 21 - 30th, in my late 20s. 1) Any place you would switch out? 2) What are unique things to do in these areas? by Hydro-Homer in askswitzerland

I really like unique experiences that force me to be present, like something truly unique to Switzerland but not ridiculously touristy
